swat error
I am getting the following error when trying to connect to
http://localhost:901
500 Server Error
chdir failed - the server is not configured correctly
Are there any known fixes for this ?
Also:
I noticed that some of the directives, such as datadir, might be
non-functional or ignored elsewhere in coding of swat
Could this be the cause of the above errors ?

SWAT works with Webmin but not via localhost:901
I have tried everything that I know of.
I have reviewed the services file and the swat file in xinetd.d a tun of times. It appears, via netstat that swat is listening on port 901.
However when I attempt to access it via the Mozilla browser on my Fedora server (with 127.0.0.1:901 or localhost:901) nothing happens. It just sits there.
However, if I access it via webmin (which has swat stored elseware) it works fine.
Any thoughts?

SWAT - Could not connect to port 901
I'm using Suse 9.1 professional.
I've got Samba *almost* up and running. But, I'm a newbie and need Swat to
configure a few things. I've gone to /etc/services and made sure that I
have the entry "swat 901/tcp" I have checked /etc/xinetd.d/swat and added
"port = 901" and changed it to "disable = no" I have gone through the steps
in the documentation on setting up swat. It all looks correct.
But when I try to run the program, I get the message:

Using Swat - Could not connect to host localhost (port 901) error!
Hello Everyone,
I'm using Mandrake 10 and trying to learng Samba
3.0.2a.
I compile the source and install it alright on my
Mandrake linux (./configure, make, and make install).
Here what I'd done after the installation:
Add to /etc/services file
swat 901/tcp
Add to /etc/inetd.conf file
swat stream tcp nowait.400 root
/usr/local/samba/sbin swat
Since swat binary in the /usr/local/samba/sbin
created the smb.conf in /usr/local/samba/lib and test
with testparm /usr/local/samba/lib/smb.conf and it was
ok.
Started the daemons:

SWAT won't work.
Ok, here is the problem. Samba is working, I can access it from
a account I created from a windows XP machine. So that is good. But I can?t
get swat to work when I go to my browser windows explorer and go to
http://192.168.1.125 <http://192.168.1.125/> :901 (which is my static IP
address for the machine). Of course with out port 901. But nothing happens
when I try to open it. I do have my web server up and going, infact I have a
squirl mail up and running. So I know the httpd is up. I?m running Red Hat
7.3 and running samba 3.1. I tried to telnet from...

question "add user script"
Hello all,
I have never had the need to use the "add user script" functionality but now I do. However, it does not seem to be working. My
smb.conf entry is like so:
add user script = /remote/configure_scripts/addusers.sh
where addusers.sh is a bash script that reads in a text file of usernames, groups, and passwords and adds the users to /etc/passwd,
/etc/group/ and

the source code from Samba.org. I went through the Samba instructions
(http://us1.samba/org/samba/docs/using_samba/ch02.html) step by step. I
have gone through the steps to enable SWAT. I've confirmed swat 901/tcp

disable=no, ran /bin/kill -HUP -a xinetd to make it reread the config
