Bad network performance between VMs in a domain.
Hi! I have got this problem aching in my head. The speed between my VM and external machine is about 900Mb/s, but the speed between 2 VMs in one bridge is just about 20 Mb/s. What can i do with this? Please, help me out. I ve got a standart Xen configuration(bridge). Thanks. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.co...

Multi-dbox storage space
Hi, I originally picked mdbox because I had the impression from reading about it on the mailing list that it was more performant and that it would conserve disc space. But lately i found mailboxes have nearly double the storage as reported. I mean, IMAP QUOTA reports around 900MB for one account that has over 2GB when I inspect the mail location of the user using the linux command `du` Another account has around 750MB according to IMAP but using du I find 1.5GB. This is for message files and index files combined. Is this normal? I tried to read the MailboxFormat/dbox w...

GenABEL - problems with load.gwaa.data
Hi all! I am using GenABEL on R for GWAS analysis. I am having a couple of issues: First, I am having a problem reading files (.map, & .ped, size 900Mb, using windows 32-bit) onto R in the "convert.snp.ped" statement. I am thinking this problem is likely due to the large size of the files & my version of R is not able to handle them, since I can read in smaller files. Second, and the more precedent issue, is with the load.gwaa.data...

Dovecot 1.0beta4 and Disconnected Problem
Hello! Yesterday I upgraded from 1.0beta3 to 1.0beta4. I've major problems now with my inbox (quite large, 900MB) and another large folder. Thunderbird 1.5 connects and disconnects. I tried to delete the indexes of dovecot and thunderbird without any sucess. Finally I downgraded to 1.0beta3 and it works well again (Beta3 was running for a timeframe from when it came out and now without any problems). Co...

Glusterfs with Infiniband tips
...also be useful for me. I've tried various versions of glusterfs (versions 3.2, 3.3 and 3.4beta) over the past year. My experience with gluster + infiniband is below. The underlying fs is a zfs pool with compression=lz4 made of 8 disks in raid 10 equivalent setup. Filesystem itself can do over 900MB/s with single thread and around 1050MB/s with multiple threads based on dd with bs=128K with 100GB data file generated from /dev/urandom. 1. volume transport set to RDMA is very very unstable. disconnecting all the time even with minimal load. I've found that when it does work the speeds are...

Slow Read Performance With Samba GlusterFS VFS
...to test windows clients write performance, it tells the same performance with iozone rewrite results, reach 450MB/s each client. Then I use the same smb.conf test read performance, it shows slow read performance compare with write performance, I received two clients total result: 500MB/s read perf 900MB/s write perf I tested the iozone in the mount dir that is mounted with a raid5 block device: writers = 674063.36 KB/sec readers = 502945.33 KB/sec then i make the same test in fuse mount dir: writers = 799379.41 KB/sec readers = 898367.59 KB/sec it show almost the same performance in read an...

Workaround for "hybriding" large ISO images?
Hi, since the Tails ISO grew from ~900MB to ~1.1GB, we see this warning when running isohybrid on it: isohybrid: Warning: more than 1024 cylinders: 1045 isohybrid: Not all BIOSes will be able to boot this device I guess that's fully expected. And, as expected, we get boot failure reports from users. So, my question is: is there...

Analysis with spatstat and Kcross() requires to much memory
Hi I am running analysis with Kcross from the package spatstat and I am getting a message that R can not allocate enough memory for a vector of 900MB. R seems to be running towards the 2GB limit per process. The dataset is not to big (ca 3000 points) but the mask for the points is extremely irregular (a buffer around roads which have been sampled) and I can do trhe analysis if I use a rectangular mask covering the whole area (which is obviously...

Memory Problems
...question directly related to asterisk. I am currently rinning ansterisk on a Debian server and i just upgraded my memory from 1GB to 2GB. However, my linux OS does not recognise the memory upgrade. The BIOS does, but the Debian Linux refuses to use the entier memory, currently, it registered only 900MB. Can anyone tell me why thi is and a solution to this?? My Debian version is "Linux asterisk 2.6.12.3 #1 Mon Aug 1 19:33:51 WAT 2005 i686 GNU/Linux" The server is currently routing calls from SIP internal users through an E1 card (TE410) OUTPUT FROM dmesg command 00000000009dc00 (usab...

IO rate of tar-in, what can we expect on a qcow2 image?
Hi all, We have done several speed tests on a qcow2 Linux Image to test how fast tar-in with a big tarball can be. Virtio seems to be active, and we get transfers in a range from 100-160MB/sec, independent of the disk speed on the host. For example we had a 20 core host system with 900MB for serial writing and 350MB for mixed read/write on the native filesystem. We've expected a faster tar-in for qcow2 there than on a small test system with some slow disks and only two cores. But the rates where nearly the same. We tried really hard to do some optimizing and using big files ins...

GlusterFS performance
Hello! I have GlusterFS installation with parameters: - 4 servers, connected by 1Gbit/s network (760-800 Mbit/s by iperf) - Distributed-replicated volume with 4 bricks and 2x4 redundancy formula. - Replicated volume with 2 bricks and 2x2 formula. I found some trouble: if I try to copy huge amount of files (94000 files, 3Gb size), this process takes terribly long time (from 20 to 40 minutes). I

Greetings, I have been trying to install Cool Edit Pro 1.2. I'm running Mandrake 8.1, which came with Wine release 20010731. This is a dual-boot system with MS-DOS 6.22 in addition to Mandrake 8.1. There NO version of Windoze of any kind is installed. I have 512 MB of RAM; the DOS partition has 941 MB free and 777 permissions. I mount the CD-ROM drive, cd to it, and execute wine setup.exe

Serving MS Access Databases, with ACL
Hi All. Greetings from South Africa. I have a Samba LDAP server (v 3.022) running on Ubuntu 6.10 Its serving about 200 users, with profiles, and domain logons. I want to start server MS Access Databases on it, with the best speed performance as possible. At the moment, the back ends for these databases, are about 200+ MB, and will grow over the next few years. Basically, the share should

Copying a 900 mb file to Windows !!!
Hi, I am writing a puppet manifest to install a service pack on windows, what I observe is that in case the exe file is withing 50 - 70 Mb the transfer to windows happens without any issues. But the current service pack "windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe" is around 900 Mb. My manifest is as follows file { ''c:/temp/windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe'': ensure =>
