RedHat 9.0 and 100 percent CPU utilization
Please, don't hate me because I use Redhat. I am aware that I am asking for problems in running Asterisk on Redhat. I recently aquired a nifty server, moved my digium cards, and installed asterisk. I noticed that one of the four processors was being used at 100% and nothing was working. I tracked CPU utilization back to the Asterisk process. Please, help. James

read.dta for files from stata 9.0
Dear R-helpers, if I want to read a .dta-file generated by stata 9.0 with read.dta (foreign), I get the message "not a stata version 5-8 .dta-file". I'm using R-2.6.2 and the latest version of the foreign package. Has someone any hint? With many thanks, Albrecht

Problems with PXELINUX and Redhat 9.0
I'm trying to boot the Redhat 9.0 install kernel with PXELINUX. I've successfully booted previous versions of the Redhat install kernel using the same hardware and PXELINUX configuration. I've tried this with PXELINUX 2.04, 2.03, and 1.75, all with similar results. I have attached the PXELINUX output and (hopefully) relevant data below. I've noticed some other people on this

samba-2.2.7a RPMs available for Mandrake 8.0, 8.1, 8.2 and 9.0
Just a quick note that I have finalised RPMs of 2.2.7a for Mandrake 8.0, 8.1, 8.2 and 9.0. They are currently available from http://ranger.dnsalias.com/mandrake/samba . Updates are in the works for 9.0, and RPMs for all releases should go to the samba mirrors soon, but if you're having problems with large file support, or are still running 2.2.6 for large file support, I thought you might

Distribution Diversity at Shorewall.net

PLEASE IGNORE PREVIOUS: How to configure ess-5.2.0beta3-1.i586.rpm, Xemacs and SuSE 9.0?
Please ignore (and excuse) my previous message - it is incomplete. I'm trying to get R and ESS to work with Xemacs on a newly installed SuSE 9.0 system. Is some setup required beyond installing the rpms? I've installed the Xemacs packages from SuSE xemacs-info-21.4.13-35 xemacs-packages-el-20030629-37 xemacs-21.4.13-35 xemacs-el-21.4.13-35 xemacs-packages-info-20030629-37

PXELINUX 2.0 diskless booting RedHat 9.0
I'm trying to boot RedHat 9.0 on a diskless PC from a head machine running Redhat 9.0. The network appears to be setup correctly. I can boot the installation disk image fine using pxelinux. What I am trying to setup is a number of different Linux systems each with its own root directory on the head machine. I am hoping that I don't have to modify the kernel for any of these systems.

Samba 3.0.4-Suse-Package with Suse 9.0
Hello, at a client's site I have to use Suse Linux 9.0 Pro for specific kernel-modules Suse Linux 9.1 does not provide anymore. To get the server up-to-date I took the Samba-rpms from sernet.de and ran a successful "rpm -Uvh". For an application it is necessary to print via the smb-backend of CUPS, I have to get a queue pointing at a printer located at a Win-PC. That printer is

Mandrake 9.0 won''t ping ...
When installing Mandrake 9.0 with the higher security option you cannot ping any of it interfaces, localhost (127.0.0.1) included. All other connections to the system are fine, e.g. ssh, www, squid, etc. "shorewall clear" doesn''t help. Does anyone know how to turn this off for at least localhost and eth1?? Yours truly, Ben
