How to detect fake CallerID? (8xx?)

(8xx?) Use a callback. So when clocking in/out, they will hear a random 4 digit PIN, like "Enter four, three, six, eight at the callback". After they hangup, the phone will ring, and then they will have confirm with the 4 digit PIN. If they arent in presence: the phone at the site will ring,...

How to detect fake CallerID? (8xx?)
...hey get to a site using a phone at that site to prove they're there. Some employees have discovered 'fake caller ID' services can be used to say they're on site when they are not. How can I detect a fake CallerID? The INVITE looks the same to me. If I have the employees call an 8xx number, can I ask my SIP provider to include more headers to show the real ANI? What would that service be called? -- Thanks in advance, ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Steve Edwards sedwards at sedwards.com Voice: +1-760-468-3867 PST...

Cisco 801 and rcapi
(This is an extension of an email I sent earlier, but I'm not sure if it made it to the list or not.... I never saw it!) We seem to be accumulating Cisco 8XX series ISDN routers as DSL becomes more and more available in Australia and our clients upgrade. Does anyone know if those routers can make the ISDN channels available in a way that can be used by Asterisk? Preferably in a fairly raw form, eg not SIP. Further investigation reveals that the 801 ca...

Restricting amount of incoming calls
If i get a 8XX number, my provider told me that they will send all the calls he gets. But due to bandwidth and asterisk capacitiy in this particular installation, the system is only able to handle 27 incoming calls. How in my dialplan do I regulate, sending a busy signal, when my system hits 27 incoming calls?...

Routing incoming call based on caller id
...aller id fails or is missing that is what is recorded. I want to expand this from just branching on our home phone number to include any toll free number, (800, 866, 877, etc) as a telemarketer screening system. But I am not sure of the syntax here, but don't want to add another line for each 8xx toll free npa either. Looking for suggestion on syntax here and not even sure how to pattern match on only the area code(first three digits) here. Thanks for any suggestions! Lyle Giese LCR Computer Services, Inc.

Manipulate CALLERIDNUM
...cemailMain(${CALLERIDNUM}@default) Is it possible to add some logic to manipulate the CALLERIDNUM to send back 801 even if the extension is 601 and 901 even if the extension is 701? I have 2 branch offices where users have both Office and Home SIP phones. I want them to share a VM box. Branch1 = 8XX , Home = 7XX Branch2 = 9XX, Home = 6XX Therefore I would like to manipulate the home CALLERIDNUM in both examples. Make sense? Thanks in advance.

VT or paravirtualization?
Hello, What is the better solution now to run linux domUs under Xen3? Using a VT hardware, sould I install a xen-patched kernel as I would where no VT extension, or use an unmodified linux guest system? Is there any performance difference between a Pentium D 3 Ghz with vt (9xx) and without it (8xx)? Toll-free dialing via PRI problem
We have a PRI from Telepacific. Asterisk 1.2 and a Sangoma A101 T1 card. Outgoing calls to certain toll-fee (8XX) numbers fail -- we hear ringing but the calls are never answered. All other calls, and most toll-free numbers are not affected. The numbers that are affected are all travel related companies (United Airlines, American Airlines, US Air, Starwood Hotels, etc.) we cannot connect to any of these num...

an easy way to deal with/without leading "1" ?
I'm setting up dialplans to deal with 800 dialing through a different channel than regular long distance in the US. The regular long distance is set up so users can but don't have to dial one. That's pretty easy, just one more exten statement. But it's a pain dealing with all the 8xx area codes that are toll free. I tried exten=>exten => _!877NXXXXXX,2,Dial(${pstnline}/ww1${EXTEN:-10}) but that matches everything. I'd hoped it would only match strings that had zero or more characters, followed by the 877 pattern. sean

P-4
I just got a new machine with a Intel 1.3 P4 chip in it. I am aware that many (most) software companies have not optimized their code specifically for the chip. Furthermore, I have found that this machine is even slower, on many apps, than a 8xx P3 we have here. I enjoy using R and was wondering if there are any plans to create a version that accommodates this chip. -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-devel mailing list -- Read http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~hornik/R/R-FAQ.html Send "in...

Off-Topic: Travel Router and Firewall
...OpenWRT lists and the TP-Link website. On the latter, I found four travel routers: WR810N 300 Mbps, powered from an outlet and 2 RJ-45 ports, its predecessor WR710N 150 Mbps, WR802N 300 Mbps and powered via micro-USB port and 1 RJ-45 port, and finally WR702N 150 Mbps. If I read correctly, only the 8xx models have at least 8 Mb of flash memory required for OpenWRT so it's down to either WR810N or WR802N. Of note is that all routers are apparently sold in a US version where the firmware is locked and a European version where it is not, the latter easier to flash. OpenWRT seems like a good sol...
