matrix manipulation with a for loop
Hi,
Having a matrix F.zoo (6575,189) with NA's in some columns I'm trying to
extract from each column the percent of days within an specific range,
so I've wrote this procedure:
length(subset(F.zoo[,86],(F.zoo[,86]>=5) & (F.zoo[,86]<=
9)))/(length(F.zoo[,86])-length(subset(F.zoo[,86],is.na(F.zoo[,86]))))*100
But to do this for each column (189) is pretty hard, so I want to write
a function in order to perform this automatically, such I have the
percent value corresponding to a speci...

Creating a list of combinations
Dear R Users,
I have 120 objects stored in R's memory and I want to pass the names of these many objects to be held as just one single object. The naming convention is month, year in sequence for all months between January 1986 to December 1995 (e.g. Jan86, Feb86, Mar86... through to Dec95). I hope to pass all these names (and their data I guess) to an object called file_list, however, I'm experiencing some problems whereby only the first (and possibly last) names seem to make the list, with the remainder recorded as...

Transforming character vector
...seem to find a solution for this. I am looking for a substitute for
cut that can transform character vectors. So as cut would be used below to
transform YearCat-> YearCat2 base on Year and vector
Ag<-c("00-'70","'71-'75","'76-'85","'86-'09") using 'cut '
FleetData$YearCat<-cut(FleetData$Year,c(0,1970,1975,1985,2009),labels=Ag)
Make Year YearCat YearCat2
