Subject says it all. How can I get the 1.3 version and 0.9.28 to compile on CentOS 5.8 ??? When I compile the two as modules I get errors. Hi, I have a compaq V2000 laptop. Specs for network say its a realtek 8139/8139C+ NIC. Other distros (namely suse) said there was no problem with this was detected and worked. Mine does not work on either of the 2 V2000 laptops I have. I tried manually loading the 8139cp module then restarting the network and that did not do it. Any ideas? Jerry

I just installed a KVM guest, centos 6.2 i686 (6.2 x86_64 host) and the network module is loaded . The modules is/are 8139too,8139cp is what lsmod shows. Dmesg shows link up but ifconfig does not give me an address? service network restart shows OK no errors but again no address. I set the ifcfg-eth0 file to not be NM controlled, onboot yes and rebooted. Same no address. I run 5.8 images all the time and they get the address...

I am attempting to build an IPv4/IPv6 router. I have put a 2nd ethernet card in a box. I have one Ethernet card attached to my network and the other to a switch with nothing else there just so the link comes up for testing. Today I updated several servers running CentOS 4.3, and got the new 2.6.9-42 kernel. One of the machines serves as our firewall. After rebooting I lost all forwarding thru the machine. I reverted back to the 2.6.9-34 kernel and connectivity returned. Hi Yum has just updated 5 of my Linux boxes running CentOS 4.3 to the 2.6.9-42 kernel. All is well on four of the boxes, but on the fifth the network card (eth0) will not work.
