Lockups with kernel-2.6.32-358.0.1.el6.i686
...er with the 6.4 CR packages, and I've experienced 3 or 4 hard lockups since. The server is a fanless VIA C7 "CentaurHauls" system with a 1GHz CPU underclocked to 800MHz and 1GB of RAM. It has a dual-port Intel 82546GB NIC in its single PCI slot. (It also has an on-board Realtek RTL-8110SC/8169SC NIC that is plugged in, but doesn't currently have an IP address configured.) This server provides a number of services -- DNS, DHCP, routing between VLANs, DLNA media server, CUPS, etc. Most importantly, it runs Asterisk and manages all of the phones in the house. There's absolut...

how to recreate eth0 - Realtek 8169sc
Hi all, Our intranet's WAN interface just stopped working yesterday, and I can't figure it out. The machine has a Gigabyte motherboard, with on-board RTL-8110SC/8169SC Gigabit Ethernet and D-Link PCI NIC for the LAN side. I can get into the LAN side without an issue, but can't see the WAN side at all. [root at intranet ~]# ifconfig eth0 up eth0: unknown interface: No such device lspci -v 01:01.0 Ethernet controller: D-Link System Inc DGE-528T Gig...

usb 3
I am trying to plug a USB 2 device in a USB 3 slot. Nothing is being detected in "lsusb". Is there something special I need to do? I am running centos 5.5 x86_64. I thought 3.0 was backward compatible. Nothing special about my device its an RS232 to USB device. It works in 2.0 slot. Thanks, Jerry

Network card not working after update to 2.6.18-194.17.4.el5
...reach any other computer or router on the LAN (whereas other boxes work fine). Where the network cable is plugged, an orange light stays on and does not blink. Booting with 2.6.18-194.17.1.el5 instead solves the issue. The network card is: Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8110SC/8169SC Gigabit Ethernet (rev 10) I just wanted to share this, and see if anybody else experienced such issues. It makes me feel uncomfortable with updating some remote servers, because it would really be a pain to fix if their network cards stopped working after rebooting (they are not the same as...

configure network bridge listing bridged intefaces
Hi all, Having a 4 NIC server, I want to bridge eth2 and eth3, with a bridge named br0. Searching the web I only found about creating a file /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-br0, but did not find where to explicitely list what ports will be bridged. Where is it configured? Thank you. -- RMA.

[PATCH 2/3] xen: make direct versions of irq_enable/disable/save/restore to common code
Now that x86-64 has directly accessible percpu variables, it can also implement the direct versions of these operations, which operate on a vcpu_info structure directly embedded in the percpu area. In fact, the 64-bit versions are more or less identical, and so can be shared. The only two differences are: 1. xen_restore_fl_direct takes its argument in eax on 32-bit, and rdi on 64-bit.

Using Xen Virtualization Environment for Development and Testing of Supercomputing and High Performance Computing (HPC) Cluster MPICH2 MPI-2 Applications
Dear All, I have created a virtual high performance computing (HPC) cluster of 6 compute nodes with MPICH2 using Xen-based Fedora 11 Linux 64-bit paravirtualized (PV) domU guests. Dom0 is Fedora 11 Linux 64-bit. My Intel Desktop Board DQ45CB has a single onboard Gigabit LAN network adapter. I am able to bring up the ring of mpd on the set of 6 compute nodes. However, I am consistently
