Random call drops on IAX2
...nsistent. I've tried to trigger it when on site -
and didn't manage. It tends to happen randomly, about 1-3 times per day.
What I've done:
1. Measured the uplink bandwidth - it works out consistently at about
350kbs - enough for (theoretically) up to 4 simultaneous ulaw/alaw calls
(80kbs each).
2. There isn't much internet traffic generated by the local network -
and the pattern of call drops doesn't match any spike in Internet
activity from/to local network.
3. I've managed to put through 4 concurrent incoming and outgoing calls
- and left them on for about 30 minut...

"Quality" vs. "bitrate"
...satisfies the streaming people, but means that for
an ordinary user to set a bitrate he'll have to set the
quality to 9.999999 *and* the maximum bitrate to whatever
he wants.
ie. If he sets quality to "near CD" and max_bitrate to
"128" then he's most likely going to get 80kbs anyway.
They'll have to think laterally to get winamp to say
"128". Even if he/she figures it out they'll have selected
"archive quality" from the menu so they'll be thinking
"hey, this can do *archive quality* at only 128kbits!!!"
<p>So, no "t...

reserve that and anything more than 20 users the extra will get kicked
or unconnected. If you are up and running from the source (home / cable
modem
dsl modem) that is up to you ...
right now I am on T-x (1 , 2 and 3) and the bandwidth sucks.. I can only
stream
@ 80Kbs or less and cannot handle that many because there are about 40
other
virtual sites and clients using the bandwidth. I might be one of very
very few
that actually uses the bandwidth to broadcast.

Asterisk 1.2.24 simultaneous call limits.
Hi everyone,
I am running into wall today with simultaneous call limits. I have two
Asterisk machines (fast 3GHz C2D with 2GB of ram). I tried to create a
lot of sip calls from one machine to the other by issuing AMI Originate
commands to one machine. The machine that makes calls plays a message
(demo-intruct) upon the other machine answer. The machine receives the
calls just waits for 40 seconds

30 streams at 1dollar = 30 dollars.
30 times 80 = 2,400 kbps upstream
2,400 kbps upstream for $30
Where the hell do you find those deals? I'm interested too.
I probably am not interpreting you message correctly. Please clarify.
