xorg display problems
Hi all,
Up until today everything has been fine with CentOS on my Toshiba laptop.
I booted into CentOS 4.3 today and Kudzu detected my video card for some
reason. I let it configure it (wish I hadn't now).
I can still get in. X and Gnome work. But the video resolution is
800x640. The LCD is capable of 1024x768. I cannot change it using
Gnome tools or direct editing of /etc/X11/xorg.conf
With the Gnome "Display" system tool I cannot change the monitor to
"Generic LCD Display".
Any help you can offer on getting the 1024x768 display mode to work

OQO mod2 arrival
...not get that).
The processor is a VIA C7-M 1.5Ghz processor, with 1Gb memory, and a
60Gb harddrive. XP pro installed.
From XP tools, I have learned that:
WiFi is - Atheros AR5006X5
Ethernet is - Realtek RTL8139
Video is - VIA/S3G UniChrome ProII IGP
Audio is - SigmaTel
Default screen res is 800x640 (can increase then use capacitor scroll bars).
I have not looked to see if I can get into the BIOS, I expect to be able
to boot from a USB CDdrive (it comes with a recovery CD).
There are instructions on the net for installing UBUNTU
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OQO), but of course I want Cent...

No mouse in Monkey island 4
Escape from monkey island is reported to work in the appdb, but on my system I can't get the mouse working. There is no cursor at all. I'm not using Compiz when using wine. Wine version: 1.0
I also tried a patched version of wine and the mouse still does not work in MI4.
Any solution? Perhaps editing xorg?
Thanks in advance...

Greg,
Look although you are using a different mobo, you are experiencing the
same problems that I ran into.? At one point I managed to get a
graphical display but at the resolution was extremely low 800x640 I
believe, and no way to change it because it didn't look like the kernel
recognized the monitor at all.
I just took a stab at a card figuring that no one else seemed to be
having issues. I don't do anything graphically intensive so I just
looked for what I thought was a good deal , an...

Rebuild xorg (continued from Centos-devel)
...t of the problems? If you "system" memory is really small, you may
not be able to get decent resolution with higher color resolutions.
If your BIOS has settings, start off with 4 bit color depth. That gives
16 colors only, but it's a start. Also pick a low resolution, like
640x480 or 800x640(?).
Maybe a combination of 4 bit color depth, low resolution, more memory
shared with video chip, etc. makes it start working. Oh! Don't forget
the video card mode if the BIOS has a setting for it.
