GSM codec is a good choice ???
Dear all, I have Asterisk 1.4 with SIP. I have a voicemail implemented with GSM sound files. The problem is I have IP phones Utopix HyperPhone 202 which support only G.729a/u and G.723.1 high/low, but not GSM. If I choose G.729A the "pass-throu" calls among users are OK, but Asterisk can't transcode GSM to G.729A in voicemail calls. My company doesn'y want to pay for a G.729 license, so I'm thinking to buy new IP phones with GSM support, so I h...

G.729a beta codec on old Pentiums
Hi, I've been trying to get the G.729a beta codec running with my remote Asterisk box that talks IAX2 to my local Asterisk box. Digium fixed the problem I was having in registering the beta codec, so that now works fine. I've removed the old codec_g729b.so from /usr/lib/asterisk/modules and put in place the codec_g729a.so beta f...

IAXTEL configuration for new iaxtel users.
After battling for days trying to figure out what was wrong with my iax.conf it was determined that I do not have any inkeys set on the digium server. Now whether that is something new or just in a few cases I am not sure. Messing around and reading on IRC and the mailing list I could get certain things to work and then break other things. Now I can dial a IAXTEL number, 800 number and FWD

G.729A + Cisco AS5300
Hello, I have 5 digium's g.729 codecs and succesfully register with asterisk, I have incomming call from my cisco AS5300 to Asterisk through IP. But Asterisk always use g711 ulaw instead of g.729. When I disable all other codecs other than g.729 in both cisco and asterisk, calls get dropped once connected. The codec list show on my cisco AS5300 for g.729 are: g729r8 g729br8 I suspect that

G729a and G729 interoperability
Hello! I am wondering how the differences between G729, G729a, and G729b effect call bridging and server interoperability. For example, can one server use the G729 code with another server that uses the G729A codec? Also, which version is Asterisk set up to use? Thanks! Elliot
