kern.maxswzone is gone... what next?
Hi all. I prefer to build all ports in /tmp, which is actually a tmpfs filesystem. I have 8G partition. The FreeBSD lists said I should load a newer QEMU-KVM, that there are much newer releases but everything I have seen claims that is not a good idea, that RH does version numbering much differently. Has anyone run into this, or have any ide...

Xen C6 kernel 4.9.13 and testing 4.9.15 only reboots.
...d. Just to note this is a second system and not just the first system with an update. I hope I'm not introducing something odd. They only "interesting" thing I have done for historical reasons is to change the following /etc/sysconfig/grub line: GRUB_CMDLINE_XEN_DEFAULT="dom0_mem=6G,max:8G cpuinfo com1=115200,8n1 console=com1,tty loglvl=all guest_loglvl=all" But I've done that on other servers without issue. In fact I have a Dell R710 that DOES work with CentOS 7 and the new kernel... so confused. On Fri, Mar 24, 2017 at 1:44 PM, Sarah Newman <srn at prgmr.com>...

I'll almost certainly come along, possibly with one or two other NASA people. I could give a talk on our work using LLVM to support model checking, symbolic execution and static analysis if anyone is interested. Sarah Thompson RSE/6G, NASA Ames >

SSD ZIL/L2ARC partitioning
Hi, I''ve ordered a new server with: - 4x600GB Toshiba 10K SAS2 Disks - 2x100GB OCZ DENEVA 2R SYNC eMLC SATA (no expander so I hope no SAS/ SATA problems). Specs: http://www.oczenterprise.com/ssd-products/deneva-2-r-sata-6g-2.5-emlc.html I want to use the 2 OCZ SSDs as mirrored intent log devices, but as the intent log needs quite a small amount of the disks (10GB?), I was wondering if I can use the rest of the disks as L2ARC? I have a few questions about this: -Is 10GB enough for a log device? -Can I partition...

[LLVMdev] Google's Go
...like they think that GCC is super quick compared to LLVM. Looks > like another fud fart out of google to me. Actually, after chatting with Ian about it, it's more of a case of the FAQ being poorly worded than them being anti-LLVM. If you read it closely, it says that LLVM was too slow for 6g, which is their ultra-fast, non-optimizing implementation based on the Plan9 compilers. In this case, the assertion that LLVM is slow is correct: it's definitely slower than a non-optimizing compiler. They then later implemented an optimizing implementation, which they based on GCC because th...

can we manage memory usage to increase speed?
Hi, Thanks for reading. I am running a process in R for microarray data analysis. RedHat Enterprise Linux 4, dual AMD CPU, 6G memory. However, the R process use only a total of <200M memory. And the CPU usage is total to ~110% for two. The program takes at least 2 weeks to run at the current speed. Is there some way we can increase the usage of CPUs and memories and speed up? Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks aga...

Disk space usage with mdbox
Hello, I am using dovecot with mdbox+sis and I notice an ever increasing disk space usage since I converted mailboxes from Maildir to mdboxes. I have checked with a user and while it actually uses only 65K, his mdbox files on disk are more than 6G. The backup of his mailbox is just 64K. Any suggestions ? Below are some relevant commands: [root at mail ~]# doveadm quota get -u test Quota name Type Value Limit % User quota STORAGE 10135 31457280...
