What FileSystems for large stores and very very large stores?
...consolidations to be done. I want to ask about couple FS options. EXT4 which is amazing for one node but for more it's another story. I have heard about GFS2 and GlusterFS and read the docs and official materials from RH on them. In the RH docs it states the EXT4 limit files per directory is 65k and I had a directory which was pretty loaded with files and I am unsure exactly what was the size but I am almost sure it was larger the 65k files per directory. I was considering using GlusterFS for a very large storage system with NFS front. I am still unsure EXT4 should or shouldn't be...

Slow IR compilation/JIT, profiling points to LLVM?
...ymbols). I've tried a builld with assertions off and it has only a relatively minor impact (a 10% drop in time spent in LLVM). The instruction cound for `findAnalysisPass` is gone, but the things like `AddInteger` are still called millions of times. Given the number of IR instructions (at most 65K since a 65K IR file), the millions of calls to the Add, and FindBucket functions seems wrong. -- edA-qa mort-ora-y http://mortoray.com/ Creator of the Leaf language http://leaflang.org/ Streaming algorithms, AI, and design on Twitch https://www.twitch.tv/mortoray Twitter edaqa

Disk space usage with mdbox
Hello, I am using dovecot with mdbox+sis and I notice an ever increasing disk space usage since I converted mailboxes from Maildir to mdboxes. I have checked with a user and while it actually uses only 65K, his mdbox files on disk are more than 6G. The backup of his mailbox is just 64K. Any suggestions ? Below are some relevant commands: [root at mail ~]# doveadm quota get -u test Quota name Type Value Limit % User quota STORAGE 10135...

Ceph samba size reporting troubles
...ws the ceph storage size statistics are wrong. Instead of seeing a 44TB hard drive I see a 176GB hard drive. Under linux that issue doesn't show. The size are properly reported. I investigated around and it seems that the problem belongs in the unability for windows to treat blocksize over 65k and by default the block size is 4K. Don't know how you can solve that issue but I really need to get that working right. Thank in advance for your time and help. -- signature *Alph? Slow IR compilation/JIT, profiling points to LLVM?
...mpiler, and JIT execution, of LLVM IR being rather slow. It's accounting for the vast majority of my full compilation time.  I'm trying to figure out why this is happening, since it's becoming an impediment.  (Note: by slow I mean about 3s of time for only about 2K of my front-end code, 65K lines of LLVM-IR) Using valgrind I see some functions which seem out of place and accounting for the vast majority of the time.     5.72%; 635,008 Calls; llvm::PMTopLevelManager::findAnalysisPass(void const*) <cycle 4>     4.54%; 3,722,489 Calls; llvm::PMDataManager::findAnalysisPass(void...

File Upload Truncated
I have a problem uploading files into a MySQL database (4.1.18) using Lighttpd (1.4.11) and the MySQL C api (2.7). All the files that I upload are truncated at about 65K, though, the temp file is the correct length. No errors are thrown and the max_allowed_packet is set to 10GB. I''m running on OSX. Any thoughts or pointers are much appreciated. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to...

Memory usage of R on Windows XP
I am running R 1.8.1 on windows xp. I have been using the 'apply' R function to run a short function against a matrix of 19000 x 340 rows ... yes it is a big matrix. every item in the matrix is a float that can have a maximum value of 2^16 ~ 65k. The function: mask256 <- function(value) { if (value < 256) { result = 0 } else { result = 1 } result } what happens is that the memory required for the session to run starts ballooning. The matrix with a few other objects starts at about 160M, bu...

block size
Hi, we are implementing FLAC decode on an embedded device. FLAC, as you know, can have block sizes up to ~65K. For an embedded implementation, memory is limited: what would be the maximum block size we should support? We have seen the encoder encodes either 1152 or 4608 in its default setup. Should we support other block sizes? Also another unrelated question: given most existing files don't have a...

2.0.6pre3 and FreeBSD 3.3-RELEASE
...eing in xperfmon++ v3.0 suggests that there is a problem in syncing writes from the client to the network and from the network to the server, i.e., disk traffic on the host is very bursty with peaks over 1MB/sec but with no disk traffic much of the time. The benchmark program, TESTNET 2.24, writes 65K blocks 1000 times sequentially to the mounted server share. netstat -i shows 3 input errors in 6 million frames, 1 output error in 100,000 frames. NFS mounts of this server clock around 3MB/sec. Samba logfiles show nothing, other than the usual "call_nt_transact_ioctl: Currently not impleme...
