Slow survfit -- is there a faster alternative?
Using R 2.10 on Windows:
I have a filtered database of 650k event observations in a data frame
with 20+ variables.
I'd like to be able to quickly generate estimate and plot survival
curves. However the survfit and cph() functions are extremely slow.
As an example: I tried
results.cox<-coxph(Surv(duration, success) ~ start_time + factor1+
factor2...

Installing the Zoo Library.
Hi Ya'll
I'm trying to install the zoo library... I've downloaded about 5 or 6 of
their releases (inc. the latest one), all of them giving me the same syntax
error when trying to install...
Anyone seen this problem before? its not the "lib" argument that is the
problem (ive been installing other packages using this exact format with no
problem... just zoo is the problem.

Recommendations for busy static web server replacement

Right now, we are operating a web server serving out 4MB files for a
distributed computing project. Data is requested from all over the world at a
rate of about 650k to 800k downloads a day. Each data file is usually only
ever read 2-3 times and after some time deleted again. Thus typical data rates
are about 30MB/s day in and out with a constant influx of new data at about
