Testing memory limits in R??
Hello Everyone, We have recently purchased a server which has 64GB of memory running a 64bit OS and I have compiled R from source with the following config ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/R-2.9.1 --enable-Rshlib --enable-BLAS-shlib --enable-shared --with-readline --with-iconv --with-x --with-tcktk --with-aqua --with-libpng --with-jpeglib and I would like to v...

RHEL 5.2 i386 image - Xen kernel doesn''t recognize the total amount of system memory
Hello, We have installed RHEL 5.2 Server ( i386 image ) on a machine with 64GB of RAM. When booting the default PAE kernel ( 2.6.18-92.el5PAE ) that is shipped with RHEL 5.2 installation the OS detects 64GB of RAM. But when booting the Xen kernel ( 2.6.18-92.el5xen ) the OS detects only 14GB of the total amount of available RAM. Did anyone encounter this problem before ? I...

soft lockups during live migrate..
Trying to migrate a 64bit PV guest with 64GB running medium to heavy load on xen 3.4.0, it is showing lot of soft lockups. The softlockups are causing dom0 reboot by the cluster FS. The hardware has 256GB and 32 CPUs. Looking into the hypervisor thru kdb, I see one cpu in sh_resync_all() while all other 31 appear spinning on the shadow_loc...

I've recently got a new flash drive (Kingston DT Micro 3.1 64GB) and found my existing SYSLINUX 6.02 fails to load on it, it just shows the version info and hangs forever. I've tried 6.03 as well as the latest git revision (currently 5483860), they both give me "Failed to load ldlinux.c32" The same builds and config work on my Kingston DT 101 G3...

Question about implementation of 32-bit guests on 64-bit hypervisor (IDT-related)
...-bit, or PAE 32-bit. PAE seems like an obvious choice, since it is safe to use PAE "under the hood" even if the guest is non-paging or non-PAE. The problem with this solution is that PAE page tables only have enough space in the entries to designate a maximum hardware physical address of 64GB. (Our systems go substantially larger.) So the hardware physical locations of the Guest RAM for all 32-bit guests would have to be located within the first 64GB. My questions are: (1) Which approach does Xen use? Is it one of the above, or yet something else? (2) What are the configuration r...

Memory problem ... Again
...out that our R program had been 32-bit compiled, not 64-bit compiled. So the R program has been re-installed in 64-bit and run the same job, reading in 150 Affymetrix U133A v2 CEL files and perform dChip processing. However, the memory problem happened again. Since the amount of physical memory is 64GB, I think it should not be a problem. Is there anyway we can configure memory usage so that all physical memory can be utilized? Our system is like this: System type: IBM AIX Symmetric Multiprocessing (SMP) OS version: SuSe 8 SP3a CPU: 8 Memory: 64GB The codes are as follows: > Data <- ReadA...

Load at 5, no CPU I/O or swap in use
We are currently running CentOS 5 update 4 on a Dell R910 server 16 cores/32 hyperthreaded with 64GB of memory. It is our main Oracle 11g DB server for one of our customers and is attached to an MD 3000 storage array. We are having a load averaging around 5 but see no swap in use, CPUs are pretty much idle and no I/O wait. We have Oracle dataguard turned on in transactional mode. I've checked...

Xen C6 kernel 4.9.13 and testing 4.9.15 only reboots.
Updating my CentOS 6.8 Xen server with new 4.9.13 kernel yields a kernel boot message of a few like "APIC ID MISMATCH" and the system reboots immediately without any other bits of info. This is on a Dell R710 with 64GB RAM and 2x 6-core Intel CPU's. As an additional test, I installed and attempted to run the current "testing" kernel of 4.9.16 with the exact same results. Anyone have an idea? The 3.18.x series runs without issue of course. Thanks PJ -------------- next part -------------- An HTML...

CentOS7 and NFS
Hi, I need some help with NFSv4 setup/tuning. I have a dedicated nfs server (2 x E5-2620? 8cores/16 threads each, 64GB RAM, 1x10Gb ethernet and 16x 8TB HDD) used by two servers and a small cluster (400 cores). All the servers are running CentOS 7, the cluster is running CentOS6. Time to time on the server I get: ?kernel: NFSD: client xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx testing state ID with incorrect client ID And the clien...

Troubleshooting load issues
Hi, I have an Asterisk box which has an IVR that plays random gsm files. The box has SSD's and two CPU E5-2695 v2 cpus with 64GB ram. The Asterisk CPU usage along with the load seems to jump around. With about 500 callers it hovers between 250-400% CPU (so 2.5 to 4 cores) which seems reasonable. Every so often the load average spikes. The idle never drops below 85%. When the load average spikes I see a lot of kworker threads...

cptime/memdisk block size
Is there any documentation available about what block size MEMDISK uses to load (big iso/harddisk) image files? Experimenting with cptime.c32 on a Lexar Triton Jumpdrive (64GB, 170MB/s read in Windows, 150MB/s write in Windows) on bootable USB3.0 resulted in the following, depending on specified block size: * 2048 bytes --> 25MB/s * 2MB --> 61MB/s It would be nice to know at which speed MEMDISK is loading, but a stopwatch seems a bit crude as only method. How to limit memory on a server
Hello, In our structure, users connect to a server (64GB of memory) where they launch R. How can I limit the amount of RAM that could use a user. The function memory.limit(size=...) can limit the amount of memory but I would like users can't change this option in R. Is it possible? Thank you. Cyril Hervy [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

how many hosts could be down in a 12x(4+2) distributed dispersed volume?
Dear All, I just implemented a (6x(4+2)) DISTRIBUTED DISPERSED gluster (v.3.10) volume based on the following hardware: - 3 gluster servers (each server with 2 CPU 10 cores, 64GB RAM, 12 hard disk SAS 12Gb/s, 10GbE storage network) Now, we need to add 3 new servers with the same hardware configuration respecting the current volume topology. If I'm right, we will obtain a DITRIBUTED DISPERSED gluster volume with 12 subvolumes, each volume will contain (4+2) bricks, that...
