Fullscreen Refresh rate problem...
Hello to everybody.
I was wondering... is there a way to force wine to use always highest
possible refrash rate - when I ran a game in Fullscreen? I ask because
- for excample my good old Incubation works flawless on wine (testet
with wine 0.9.27 and 0.9.28) but when I switch to fullscreen(640x480
for this game) the refresh rate is only at 60 HZ - and my eyes hurts
after a while... (mty monitor is capable to display 640x480 with 120 HZ
refresh rate). I know there is a way to force using highest refresh by
editing xorg.conf - but this is no good for me. So again - is there a
way to force wine...

Using "-r 75" fixes the problem.

Yes, 720x480 works without the -r parameter.

640x480 does not fill screen
I've been using the NVidia drivers and recently managed to
get Nouveau working. Well almost working.
Running the command:
xrandr -s 640x480
results in a desktop that spans the monitor but leaves black bands of
about a third of the screen on the top and bottom.
This results in an unreadable display playing games like Lbrickbuster2.
I'd like the display to fill the screen.
To confirm that this is a Nouveau issue, I switched back to...

zooming wine windows?
Hi,
I have the following issue, and I wonder if Wine support such a feature.
I have a game (Fallout 1), that natively runs in full screen, at a
resolution of 640x480. The game itself does not support other resolutions.
I have the option to run the game fullscreen with wine - which works
fine. But this is not what I want to do.
I can run the game in a window (using the virtual desktop feature of
wine). This window will be 640x480 in size, no matter what I spec...

Screen not changing from 640x480 to 800x600 - "Shogun - Total War"
...and I have navigated
through the menu options etc. I was also able to get to the strategy
area of the game using an old saved game.
Unfortunately, it is still not possible to play the game due to a
strange problem with the resolution. During startup, the splash screens
etc. are displayed in 640x480. Just before it switches to the game
menu, the screen appears to switch to 800x600 and then immediately back
to 640x480. I've also tested with a Wine desktop set to 800x600 with
the same result; after the splash screen the desktop jumps to 800x600
briefly and then back to 640x480,

I've experienced a lot of problems with nouveau

1) Console does not initialise the output
correctly if video mode is not restricted to
640x480 by kernel command line with '...

also, for either 800x600 or 1024x768 upper

Switching video mode
Hi,
This is some short of technical question or might be my stupidity, please tell
me so ;o)
Ok, let's say I have an application which I would like to run in
640x480x32/fullscreen. I have my basic X desktop settings at 1024x768 and I
would no like to change the resolution. Is there any way to let wine start an
X server on another shell with a different resolution, automatically switch
to thatone and run the application there? Or any way to change resolutions...

N = 0
connector = DP-1
so looks like you found it.
I was actually looking for dmesg with those boot parameters, not the Xorg log.
Something to randomly try -- xrandr -s 640x480 -r 75 -- perhaps it'll
like that mode better. Also does 720x480 work better?
Looking at your EDID, you have:
Established timings supported:
720x400 at 70Hz 9:5 HorFreq: 31469 Hz Clock: 28.320 MHz
640x480 at 60Hz 4:3 HorFreq: 31469 Hz Clock: 25.175 MHz

Scale "up" low resolution programs to fit screen?
Some old apps and games are of pretty low resolution by today's standards, i.e. 640x480.
If I run such a program the text and interface are often very very small because of it.
Therefore, is there a way to have Wine scale up, for example, a 640x480 virtual desktop to fit my high resolution display?
In other words, the program will fill the screen, albeit looking more pixellated.

640x480 does not fill screen
...useful to know how the screen is connected. Also please
grab the monitor's EDID from /sys/class/drm/cardN-connector/edid and
attach it here. It would also be interesting to get a boot with
"drm.debug=0x1e nouveau.debug=disp=trace" which has the modeswitch in
question.
The thing about 640x480 is that it's not a lot of pixels, too few for
some modern monitors. I believe some games need to be played in order
to increase the pixel clock, and I suspect nouveau doesn't play them
correctly.
Cheers,

Graphic file 640X480
I wish to know if there is a way to show a graphic file with 640X480 when starting syslinux bootloader withou showing the boot prompt.

timeout 40
in the boot.msg:

Wine not properly loading config file
...RedHat 9 at the moment.
I'm trying to change the resolution and drives in Wine, but for some strange
reason, every changes I make in the ~/.wine/config file are not reflecting
in wine.
I naturally verified if I had any wineserver running in the background.
Nothing. I'm trying to swtich the 640x480 resolution to 800x600. So I
modified the " "Desktop" = "640x480" " to this line " "Desktop" = "800x600"
". Nothing happens to the resolution when I load wine and notepad, i'm still
at 640x480.
Even weirder, if I take the config file an...

system-config-display wrongly sets up Viewsonic VG730m monitor
I originally set up this monitor with an analogue lead. Everything seemed
fine, so I didn't check xorg.conf at all. Then I bought a digital lead, and
since then the monitor blinks. Running system-config-display identifies it
as a 1280 x 1084 CRT monitor. It is an LCD monitor.
That model is not on the drop-down list, so assuming that a specific driver
wasn't available for it, I
