instant fallback to zap in case of sip/iax/xyz-failure
...ons via sip to providers like stanaphone, however, in case of a network-failure or if the provider is not available, i want to fallback to the zap-channels so the call is carried out to the pstn directly. the usual approach would be to check the dialstatus(e.g.NOANSWER). however, asterisk tries >60seconds to reach that peer(even when the ip i'm sending the call too is a dead end(no host)). i could limit a call by setting a timeout but this limit would also apply if a final destination doesn't pick up within the timeout. so basically, when i send a call via a sip-channel, i would like to know...

Before it was 30 seconds like clockwork. When I run "ruby dispatch.fcgi" I get the following: [root@server...

Announcement to caller when called party haspicked up - without initial Answer()?
...) / be asked to leave a message / be told I am X in queue / etc than to only hear ringing. After about 20seconds of ringing I would give up. Being put on hold I would be more forgiving. And whats more important to you, customers that give up and look elsewhere or customers that have to pay for 30-60seconds of holding IF they choose to. Also I was under the impression that in Europe calls are charged as soon as you start ringing and not on pickup (this may be out of date as its been a while since my school skiing trip ;-P ) HTH alex This email and any attached files are confidential and copyrig...
