missing syslinux details/docs
...chaining to floppy/HD from isolinux.cfg means not loading MEMDISK though. Basicly, I'd like to detect if ELTORITO.SYS should be loaded instead of awaiting its loading succes/failure. * How would one create the tiniest uncompressed ISO possible? It seems like MKISOFS does some padding up to 600KB or so at minimum. My objective is a tiny ISO placed on diskette to test ELTORITO stuff: fd0 -> syslinux -> memdisk -> tiny.iso -> isolinux -> chain.c32 fd0 -> devload eltorito.sys /D:MEMCD Running into a few more things also but that makes for a (too) long mail then. Is/was th...

Cannot build Clang/LLVM on Windows with LLVM_BUILD_LLVM_DYLIB
I am trying to build Clang/LLVM with -DLLVM_BUILD_LLVM_DYLIB=ON and -DLLVM_LINK_LLVM_DYLIB=ON to reduce the size of toolchain. I am getting LINK error 1181 about `lib\LLVM.lib` not found. After investigating, `lib\LLVM.lib` is supposed to be produced along with `bin\LLVM.dll`. `bin\LLVM.dll` is indeed produced, but it does not contain any exported symbols (10KB only) because LLVM does not use

...tp://www.gsoft.com.au). On occasion (ie during meteor showers such as the Leonids) we configure the system to save raw data as it comes out of the acquisition system, the data rate for this varies (depends on acquisition parameters and number of coherent integrations etc), but usually it is around 600kb/sec. The data consists of 16 bit samples, one for each digital channel (in phase and quad for each receiver) at each sampled height. Typically there are 10 channels and 30 range gates, so for a single transmitter pulse tick you get 10 * 30 = 300 16 bit samples. In an effort to compress the data I...

Very Slow Transfers from Win2K to Linux over Samba
...SO_SNDBUF to 1200 made the uploads quite a bit better, jolting back and forth but averaging about 200k/s, but changing SO_RCVBUF, max xmit, raw read/write, and large readwrite seemed to have no effect. The only thing that works is using smbclient and specifying -b 1200, which gives me my usual 500-600kb/s downloads. However, this doesn't help with smbmount. Of anyone I'm sure you guys would know best as to where I can make this setting permanent (even if I have to edit the source). I'd just go back to Win98 (infact, I've got half a mind) but 2000 has been relatively crash-free c...

Where to obtain (how to build) small enough workablekernel?
...kernel VMLINUZ append ramdisk_size=100000 init=/etc/init lang=us apm=power-off hda=scsi hdb=scsi hdc=scsi hdd=scsi hde=scsi hdf=scsi hdg=scsi hdh=scsi vga=791 initrd=MINIROOT.GZ nomce quiet BOOT_IMAGE=KNOPPIX the knoppix floppy file contains: ldlinux.sys syslinux syslinux.cfg vmlinuz 600KB or so initrd.gz 300KB or so. this means you should have plenty of space. I don't know if anyone has succeeded in a Linux 2.6 bootdisk with a somehow compressed kernel (bzImage or maybe UPX 1.90). this is all the help I can offer as an end-user. regards, Bernd Blaauw

wxRuby and Mac OS X 10.5
...- I downloaded our last release gem 1.9.2 and it ran fine. - I built wxWidgets 2.8.6, had no problems - I built SVN head (as of 2 days ago) and had no problems - I ran into a small problem with the osx_all_gems rake task, I committed the fix. - One thing that surprised me is that the build gems are 600kb smaller than the exact same gems generated on 10.4. I have read that the built-in Ruby works with dtrace which may come in-handy for debugging, I need to look into this more. All in all it was a very smooth upgrade with no roadblocks so far. Sean

Problems with UDP frame size??
...me stumped for days now. For months I've been using tinc in TCPOnly because I always received the unknown host error when using UDP. On Monday, i set the flag IndirectData = yes in my host files, and removed the TCPOnly line. Initially, everything worked great. My throughput increased from 600KB/sec to 2MB/sec between the sites. However, I also did some testing with compression settings in the host files. On the first test after setting Compression = 10, I lost full functionality. I can still establish the VPN, and hosts are able to ping between eachother, but if I try to transfer a fi...

Quota won't work
...overquota_bounce = yes /etc/postfix/mysql-quota.cf: user = mailuser password = ****** hosts = 127.0.0.1 dbname = mailserver query = SELECT quota FROM virtual_users WHERE email='%s' I changed the quota of my mail account to 40, so 40Byte should be the maximum. My account is at a size of 600KB now. I still recieve mails, also they will be saved without errors. /var/log/mail.log says nothing to quota, just normal recieve and store entries. What to fix? -- Markus Fritz Administration opsys.de

icecast 2.0 semi-permanent test stream
Icecast 2.0 and Ices 2.0 are both fairly usable now. I have set up a semi-permanent test stream for people to bang on at: http://i.cantcode.com:8888/ices.ogg Please report any problems you have. I say semi-permanent, because it will probably crash now and then, and I will be developing and putting up the new versions on a regular basis. If it stops working for more than an hour, somethings

[Bug 2734] --delete doesn't work
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2734 ------- Additional Comments From vanes002@umn.edu 2005-05-21 22:15 ------- Your rsync options (-arRWxn) include -n, so nothing is actually going to get deleted on the destination, even though rsync reports that they are being deleted (which is what -n is for - i.e. to preview what will happen). -- Configure bugmail:

...lists.samba.org/pipermail/samba/ Due to lack of documentation probably... I'm using a Windows 2000 Server machine for large file storage from my Debian/GNU Linux desktop machine. The samba version I'm using is the 2.2.0 final release on a 100 Mbit switched LAN. The performance is abysmal (600KB/s or less) unless I use these socket options (2000-3000 KB/s) with smbmount: "IPTOS_LOWDELAY TCP_NODELAY SO_SNDBUF=4096 SO_RCVBUF=4096" But how do I automate the mount and use these options in /etc/fstab ? Do I escape the spaces in a certain way ? Any help appreciated! Sincerely, Matt...
