tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE with samba samba-3.0.4-6.3E
I learned the new samba configurations for samba-3.0.2-6.3E on a RedHat Enterprise 3 system. I could successfully create a domain master or a samba server to work as a connection to a domain master on another subnet. I then upgraded another system to Redhat Enterprise 3, copied over the smb.conf file from the system that was working as a connection to a domain master. I modified the

Machine failing to keep its trust with Domain Controller
Hi, We have a Linux (RHEL 3.0, update 3) Samba 3 server which worked fine for months but suddently have trouble to keep its trust with the DC server. The only way to recover is to reset the machine account from the Windows DC side and do a "net join" to the domain from the Linux side. The Linux machine is able to keep its "trust" with the domain exactly 7 days, which,

Updates? Last samba package from RedHat? Cd images for update 3?
Dear Centos-3 Maintainers, there are several new (september) packages from redhat for RHEL3 especially https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2004-430.html (samba 3.0.6). Perhaps these new packages are not security updates, but .... I am having problems printing in current samba-3.0.4-6.3E which I believe shall be resolved with the new samba. Do you guys intend to rebuild last redhat updates, or

Samba 3.0.4 on RHEL3
There have been several issues fixes since the 3.0.2 release of Samba. One of the most important issues is a problem with password changing after applying the patch described in the Microsoft KB828741 article to Windows clients. I want to run Samba 3.0.4 on RHEL3. The version provided by RedHat is samba-3.0.2-6.3E. I can't find any other RPMs or SRPMs for RHEL3. Any help you can provide

deleting a file
Has anyone observed this behavior when deleting a file? I had a user map a Samba share to his WIN2K machine and use the Windows Explorer delete function to delete a rather large file (600M). Windows prompted him in the usual manner: 'Are you sure you want to delete this file?' (By the way it was the actual "delete" warning, not the recycle bin warning.) In the Explorer window,

Ghost Image + Winbind = Panic
I had a test machine up and running Samba, joining an AD domain, and set up with winbind... when I ran "getent passwd" it would list all the local users, and all the domain users. I could also log in as a domain user without any problem. So, I made an image of the hard drive, and copied it to 7 other machines. Now, those 7 are having a strange problem. I changed the names and IP's of
