state of ide raid
...is market has gotten much larger since I bought my 6500. So I started looking at the various cards while browsing the hardware notes for FreeBSD 4.8 and 5.1. So I'm wondering if anyone can provide some insight here. -3Ware has a whole new series of cards. The twe(4) manpage states that only 5xxx and 6xxx series cards are supported, but these are very hard to come by. Is the manpage out of date, or are the newer 7xxx and 8xxx series cards now supported as well? -Adaptec has a cheap raid card, the 1200A. No mention of it in the hardware notes. Is it possibly supported by the asr driver?...

call from cisco router to asterisk gets auto attendant
...needs to call two different asterisk servers with 4 digits. I have two way calling working with the one * box, but the other is perplexing me. Here's the layout * <--> Cisco 2811(192.168.13.1) <--> 1.54 point to point <- Cisco 3725(192.168.8.1)<-> NEC 2400. The * has 5xxx extensions and the Nec has 1xxx and 2xxx extensions. The * can call me at 1621 just fine. When I call any 5xxx extension, I get the main greeting. To make it even more confusing, the * is set up so that the 1xxx and 2xxx extensions go through the 2811 router. When I call the *, it identifie...

What is the state of Asterisk Secure Remote Communications?
...tel, etc) and connect securely to a remote Asterisk server (both for signalling and the RTP media stream). This might be a standalone phone, or maybe one plugged into a small (broadband router sized) box. An example commercial phone system with this capability is the Mitel 3300 or SX-200 with 5xxx IP phones having teleworker capability. What solutions "just work" out there? ("Just work" means that the end user only has to know enough to plug stuff in to get a dial-tone and incoming calls). All ideas (commercial or otherwise) welcome. Thanks, Alvin

2 asterisk servers, how to connect them together?
...firewall, and has a dynamic IP address. It has 1 SIP hardphone configured, and working, on extension 5110. I can add a second hardphone to verify that this (new build) server is working OK, but all of the messages indicate it's fine. What I want to do, obviously, is have ALL of the extensions (5XXX) "pretending" to be on the same PBX. i.e. if I dial 5100 (on [MASTER]) from 5110 (on [HOME]), the call goes through & everyone's happy; and vice versa, calling 5110 from 5100. I know I need to use IAX to achieve this (as IAX can negotiate its way past the firewall), but I can'...

I/O errors with usbhid-ups and Tripp Lite SMART1500LCDT
Hi List, I recently picked up a Tripp Lite SMART1500LCDT while they were on sale to pair with my home server, and have tried getting it set up with NUT, since it seems to be supported. I can get the whole NUT stack up and running, but the driver seems to only stay up for a couple minutes before crashing out. I've uploaded the level 6 debug output of the driver (with my serial number

SIP->IAX->SIP silences
Hi all, We've got a number of users connected in a configuration which is basically: (a) SIP Phones -> Asterisk -> IAX -> Our Asterisk -> Cisco AS 5xxx (SIP) -> PSTN We also have users in a configuration: (b) SIP Phones -> Asterisk -> IAX -> Our Asterisk -> Digium E1 -> PSTN The second server in both cases is the same. The SIP phones place a call via these configurations to the PSTN Users in configuration (b) are happy. Som...

Does this mean that fglrx is now incompatible with CentOS? Yves

Calls to sip extensions not defined
Hi all, new to the list and this is probably a basic question and couldn't find anything clear googling around but I don't know how to handle calls to sip extensions not defined on sip.conf while using pattern matching. On my example I have sip extensions 10, 11, 12, and 13 on sip.conf. On a basic extension.conf I set up a pattern starting with "1" and a second digit should dial
