Creating regularly spaced time series from irregular one
Hello, I have a series of intraday (high-frequency) price data in the form of POSIX timestamp followed by the value. I sucesfuly loaded that into "its" package object. I would like to create from it a regularly spaced time series of prices (for example 1min, 5min, etc apart) so i could calcualte returns. There is an interpolation function locf() that for timestamp with value NA uses last known observation. I guess the idea would be to start from the begining of my series and, for example, if there is no timestamp for t+5min add that time with value NA. Than...

monit vs mongrel cluster
Is there anything mongrel cluster gives you that monit doesn''t? I''ll be using monit to monitor a number of other services anyways, so it seems logical to just use it for everything including mongrel. Chris

tcpdump loses lots of packets
...irst I was writing to the disk, and thought it might be a bottleneck, so I tried to write to /dev/shm. You'll see I've also increased the buffer size with -B, but none of this helps. The packet rate is also not that high. From the sending side, this is what I have: # tcpreplay -i qtx:p1p1 5min.pcap Actual: 6882162 packets (620533334 bytes) sent in 317.08 seconds. Rated: 1951900.0 Bps, 15.61 Mbps, 21648.97 pps Flows: 4254416 flows, 13382.96 fps, 6882162 flow packets, 0 non-flow This is a very modest rate. Any ideas why tcpdump loses so many packets? And how to make it do better? Regard...

tc htb stats
...line I thought to myself..."cool I can use this to graph throughput avg.es without having to worry about the "Sent bytes" rolling over or being lost when the htb qdisc is recreated" _BUT_ it seems the rates are inaccurate. When I look at the rate my cisco router reports for a 5min avg and I look at a calculated 5min average (30 polls of the tc once every 10sec) for tc they are very different. The cisco is reported as ~2090kb/s and tc reports my parent as ~251kb/s. Even if I take all the classes separately and add the averages together I get closer but not that much closer....

[LLVMdev] [PATCH] Refactoring the DFA generator
...table of our BE and I'd like to share it. We have 15 functional units and 13 different itineraries which, in the worst case, can produce 13! states. Fortunately, many of those states are reused :-) but it still takes up to 11min to build the entire table. This patch reduces the build time to 5min, giving a speed-up factor greater than 2. It contains small changes: - Transitions are stored in a set for quicker searches - canAddInsnClass() API is split in two API's: - canAddInsnClass() which perform a quick verification about the possibility of having new states for a given InsnClas...

Should I config monit to clear the .pid files first? Thanks, Henry

...--- GENERAL WARNING (nothing personal): As said before I'd like to avoid situations where we get some popular software where each client will download the list every 5 minutes. To give everyone reading this list an idea what this could mean: - 500 copies active at a given time - Polling every 5min - XML size (compressed): 500 kByte / uncompressed: 5 MByte - resulting bandwidth usage (compressed): 7 Megabit/s; uncompressed: 70 Megabit/s For just /one/ misbehaving software. For comparison the current average bandwidth of the /whole/ dir.xiph.org server is 7Megabit/s (most of it due to uncom...

CDs for R?
...r more than a few (though possibly a minority) here. There's something of a hidden assumption that R users can readily download whatever they need from CRAN. Some of us are on narrow bandwidth dialup connections, so downloading large quantities of stuff is out of the question (e.g. at approx. 5min/MB, it would take over 2 days to download a single CD). The meat of CRAN (including contributed packages and documentation) is enough to fill 5 CDs, though one individual probably wouldn't be interested in all of that. (And, before anyone asks, no I won't be seeing broadband in the foresee...

tcpdump loses lots of packets

It seems like the qtx module is somehow interfering with the packet capture, but I don&...

Issue with libvirtd service and virsh on Debian 13 "trixie" (testing)
Hi, I just upgraded to Debian 13 and observing an issue related to libvirtd service. It happens during up time, the service is initially ?running and all is working fine.?I can run virt-manager and use VMs. Then close virt-manager. After some time (5min), here is what happens : - virt-manager keeps on "Connecting... " when launching it. - "sudo virsh net-list --all" command hangs and does not respond. I have to type Ctrl-C. At that step, I need to restart the libvirtd service : "sudo systemctl restart libvirtd" Then...

trend test for frequencies
Hi, which test do I have to use if I want to test if the following data follow a monotone trend; 0min 5min 10min 20min 30min 5 20 55 70 90 ... where the dependent variable contains frequencies. And how is that implemented in R? thanks for any help (on this more statistical-question ...).

Today I tried (I know it was dump) to add "www" as CNAME Alias Name (FQDN: www.example.com) to my DNS..The reason I did this was to fix my dns-problem (Domain name and public website have the same name ("example.com")). I deleted this entry after 5min. But after all of this my dns gets terminated randomly.
