Missing Thunderbird Updates
...erbird in CentOS 5.3 updates repo: http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5.3/updates/i386/RPMS/ Then I went upstream to confirm which versions were available there. To my surprise, I found out that there is a src rpm for Thunderbird 2.0.0.21 that dates from March 22. - Thunderbird 2.0.0.21 SRPM in RHEL 5Client: ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/enterprise/5Client/en/os/SRPMS/thunderbird-2.0.0.21-1.el5.src.rpm CentOS Developers, could you please build the RPMs for the latest version 2.0.0.21, and investigate why the issue with 2.0.0.19 not being present in the "updates" repo 5.3 happened, a...

kernels and irc
I was in the #centos-social channel and simply stated that I noticed CentOS 3-4 were getting a lot of updates. I also stated that the CentOS 5 was one kernel behind, as in RHEL it is at -53, the gentlemen then told me that I was wrong and it was at -21. I then asked if there was a way to get a progress report somehow on 5.2, and that 5.2 has already upgraded that kernel. The result was that I was

rhel source to updates?
I noticed on the rhel errata page: http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHEA-2008-0001.html that they have made a configuration change to fontconfig for the liberation fonts. I have the liberation fonts installed via rebuild of fedora 8 src.rpm - including a fontconfig file. I'm guessing the update will come through CentOS at some point and I'm trying to make sure there isn't a file

RH Server/Client disk sets -> Centos; how?
...r, or an http server on a client. Centos seems to follow the good old RH packaging approach. This RHEL Client/Server thing actually causes some wrinkles if you try to transition a running system from RH to Centos, because the repository names are different. RH will have a version name like "5client" whereas Centos will just have 5. I understand this Centos list is not quite the right place to ask "why does RedHat do that?", but I bet some of you will know. What I really want to ask here is: what is the relationship between the several RHEL install types and the Centos disks?...

mirroring with lftp
i've maintained a local centos repository at work using rsync, but it seems the corp honchos have decided to block rsync at our firewall, plus its never been 100% reliable, I'd get aborts on protocol errors sometimes several times before pulling down a complete new distro update. i'm trying to figure out how to do this with lftp, and its got me somewhat stymied. I'm testing
