Proposal: faragment cache with :if / :unless conditions
Hi,
I''m wondering if it would be a good idea to have fragment cache to allow
options :if / :unless to determine whether or not to actually perform
caching on the given block.
It would actually be a good idea in my opinion right now, since I''m working
on a piece of code that would benefit by this feature.
The scenario is the following:
I have a partial, which is

Unicode HOWTO?
I am disappointed about the (seeming) lack of Unicode support in Rails.
Is there a howto about working the most important limitations? For
example, figuring out the length of an entered word: "???".length() will
return 6, not 3. So if there is a maximum number of characters a user is
allowed to enter, this won''t work as it should -- it treats strings as
byte arrays instead

group of Rails core developers (they rather patch around where Rails
explodes completely instead of adopting a uniform API),
so of you can please help me find more places where such handling can
be useful in Rails. The ticket we opened is here:

there you can see a number of examples where the chars handling is
beneficial and helps to chop off some cruft. More helper patches are
underway.
We also need some urgent help with that - namely we want to provide a
pure-ruby Unicode normalizer-casefolder with the plugin (and the
patch)....

folder, but I can't get any ooxml files open at all, it gives me an

that it installed a packaged called alternatives which is supposed to handle
symbolic links to default commands in a nice clean, structured way.
However, I am having trouble understanding how this thing works.
I have read the man page half a dozen times already, and yet the alternative
