Machine SLOWWWS and then stops after a few minutes running centos 5.
Hi all, I had asked the other day about my new machine amd 6000+ and strangely SLOWWING down then eventually stopping. I have tried a new 500W power supply, I took out the extra video card, and just used the one on the motherboard (both are nvidia one with DVI one RGB). I took out all the RAM and tried differnent RAM. I ran memtest86 (ran fine until the machine turn off). Harddrives should be fine since they are not active during memtest...

XPCC XVRT-1000 driver
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Has anyone used nut with a XPCC UPS, in particular one of the XVRT units? Their supplied monitoring tool "works", but I'd really prefer to use nut if possible. I've systematically gone through each of the drivers in /lib/nut and none seem to talk with the unit properly. I'll be talking with a XPCC support person tomorrow, though

Power-outage
I have a CentOS-5.6 remote server in a house in Italy, where there are occasional thunder-storms. There was one yesterday, when the electricity went off 3 times, for a second or so on each occasion. My server, an HP MicroServer, came back (re-booted) on 2 of the 3 occasions, but not on the third. I assume that the problem arises because the machine does not close down properly. (Although it is

UPSD is not running
I have a Dell 500w UPS and it works great with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and Network UPS tools 2.6.3 via usb. This powers a standalone server for the purposes of clean shutdowns. This was installed using "sudo apt-get install nut" and there are no issues with the Server > nut > ups chain. I am using the usbhid...

server recommentation (unique requirements)
Howdy. I've been having trouble finding a fairly modern server that meets the following requirements: - Molex power connectors (don't want to use the Digium FXS power supply) - 4 PCI slots, one full-length (TDM2400P, 2xT100P, additional NIC) - dual power supplies - preferably dual CPUs >= 1GHz - preferably rack-mountable (3-4RU) - CentOS-friendly We'd also like to stay away from

Intel 1000/PRO GT (e1000 driver) and "Detect Tx Unit Hang" error with 4GB RAM
...pt is correct in assessing that it does not apply to my NICs. So, I thought that perhaps my power supply could be the problem. Perhaps the PSU doesn't supply enough power to power everything when I add the 4th memory module. It is just a generic 300W PSU that came with the case (I have new 500W PSUs on the way). So, I pulled out one of the NICs and disconnected the DVD drive. That is about all I can eliminate. Reducing the hardware installed made no difference. I am running the 64-bit kernel, so I should have no trouble supporting the 4GM RAM, correct?. Now, I am out of ideas, and...

PATA Hard Drive woes
Hi All. Yesterday I was installing Centos 5.5 to my web server, and it looks like the main hard drive has gone AWOL. Fedora 12 put the file system into r/o mode. The drive is an Hitachi, still under warranty. There are bad sectors on it, and running the Hitachi DFT tool confirms this. Also I cannot repair the bad sectors. Would this be caused by a faulty I/O chip, or is it safe to say

invalid mbox files
Hello! I recently upgraded from dovecot 0.9x to 1.0.5-Aplha and now when ever folders are opened (in IMAP), it keeps saying invalid mbox files. It worked fine in 0.99.x. It is detecting the right mbox files because it lists the folders and the subscriptions correctly. I am using "default_mail_env = mbox:~/mail/:INBOX=/var/mail/%u" in the config file, but I get the same error with

The dreaded Tripp Lite SMART500RT1U and NUT
<nut-upsuser at lists.alioth.debian.org> I am doing my best to avoid have to spend $280 for a network monitoring card to put into a $190 UPS just to have some good remote monitoring capabilities. Rather, I would like to monitor my many 1U Tripp Lite's on my network using a Raspberry Pi running Raspian and using NUT. However, I cannot seem to get it working. And I while the hardware

Cheap ZFS homeserver.
So after toying around with some stuff a few months back I got bogged down and set this project aside for a while. Time to revisit.

Looking around there still is not a good "these cards/motherboards" work list. the HCL is hardly ever updated, and its far more geared towards business use than hobbyist/home use. So bearing all of that in mind I will need the

...ds, because if the UPS pulls power at an inopportune time, you won't have nearly as much filesystem damage on a light bulb. I think the 'M' command shows the min and max voltages - see if there is something similar in the Windows display. Also, any load values would be helpful. For a 500W UPS, I assume it's one 12V (or 2x 6V) battery pack? Attached is a patch to try to map some of the 3005 differences into the driver. It should apply to the NUT 2.7.2 tarball, but it was generated from the Git master branch. If you do check out from Github, you'll need to install autoconf, a...

The best motherboard for a home ZFS fileserver
I''m a fan of ZFS since I''ve read about it last year. Now I''m on the way to build a home fileserver and I''m thinking to go with Opensolaris and eventually ZFS!! Apart from the other components, the main problem is to choose the motherboard. The offer is incredibly high and I''m lost. Minimum requisites should be: - working well with Open Solaris ;-) -
