Peak Over Threshold values
Dear List
I hope you can help me: I?ve got a dataframe (df) within which I am looking
for Peak Over Threshold values as well as the length of the events. An event
starts when walevel equals 5.8 and it should end when walevel equals the
lower threshold value (5.35).
I tried ?clusters (?)? from ?evd package?, and varied r (see example) but it
did not work for all events (again

Dear list,
I would like to plot points with two types of labels, one at the data
point (the name of the point) and another offset a bit with another
factor which is either of the two greek characters alpha or beta. I have
tried to get the routine to plot a greek character with expression() or
with substitute() and have not yet had any success. The following only

help for segmented package
Hi,
I am trying to find m breakpoints of a linear regression model. I
used the segmented package. It works fine for small number of
predicators and breakpoints.(3 r.v. 3 points). However, my model has
14 variables it even would not work even for just one breakpoints!.
The error message is always estimated breakpoints are out of range.

Nouveau [vanilla 2.6.33] + GeForce FX 5200 = blank screen
Hi there,
I have just decided to try this new driver stuff (used 2.6.27 earlier and
a proprietary nvidia driver) but the monitor (Samsung 214T) becomes black
and the power LED starts flashing (standby) after loading nouveau module
(from a fresh 2.6.33). For now I am trying framebuffer only. The monitor
is connected with a single link DVI cable.

Puzzled at lm() and time-series
I tried toy problems and there doesn't seem to be a basic problem
between lm() and ts objects:
X = data.frame(x=c(1,2,7,9), y=c(7,2,3,1))
lm(y ~ x, X)
X <- lapply(X, function(x) ts(x, frequency=12, start=c(1994,7)))
lm(y ~ x, X)
and this works fine - whether you do an lm() before or after making ts
objects, it's okay.
But I have a situation where things aren't okay.

smartmontools SRPM fails
I want to install smarmontools v 5.40, and so I pulled the
SRPM for 5.39 so I could patch and install...
$ wget -Nc

However, the install of the source fails.

SaMBa 2.2.2 Eating CPU!
Hullo, All...
I'm maintaining about twenty HP/UX 11.00 Servers (L1000, 512Mb), all with
SaMBa installed. Today, I notice that two of them have the SMBD processes
eating more CPU than expected... Bellow is one of my TOP screens...
Processes that take 0.40% CPU now take 7.61%!

fts-lucene vs SEARCH HEADER
Hello.
This is in Dovecot 2.1.7 on Linux x86, but it looks as though 2.1.8 has the same issue. I'm using fts-lucene. SEARCH HEADER TO returns no results, but SEARCH TO works:

1) Why does the first form of command1 add the name of y _after_ the
str() output rather than before as does the second (preferred) form?

isSeekable returns F on seekable file
Hi,
Seems that on RWin 1.7.0 and 1.6.2 isSeekable returns F on binary files,
while seek() works as expected on the same connection - see example below:

non-bubbling mouseover/mouseout
First, I have only played with Prototype for about a month, so I don''t
