SCO OpenServer 5.0.6a and missing libncurses.so.4 (fwd)
You can download Ncurses for SCO OpenServer via ftp://ftp2.caldera.com/pub/skunkware/osr5/vols/ncurses-4.2-VOLS.tar This is a tar archive of media images suitable for installation with the SCO Software Manager (/etc/custom). SCO OpenServer 5.0.6a and missing libncurses.so.4
I've downloaded Samba 2.2.6 (binaries) from SCOs Skunkware site, but when I try and run smbclient I get a message : dynamic linker : smbclient : error opening /usr/local/lib/libncurses.so.4 Killed I've checked and there is no libncurses.so.4 (or libncurses.<anything> for that matter) on the system. I've also failed to find anything relevant in either the list archive or SCOs

centos 5.8 libvirt disk options
I am attempting to use libvirtd/kvm on CentOS 5.latest to migrate a SCO OpenServer 5.0.6a VM from the old VMware server. I have converted the multiple vmdk disk files to a single file, then used qemu-img convert to create files for libvirtd, both qcow2 and raw formats. After many attempts to get this working I'm up against what appears to be a brick wall. + The VMware VMs are using

BUG #18
I submitted some comments for BUG #18, but forgot to cc this list. Let me know if I shouldn't cc the list. Bugzilla Bug 18 Using ssh -f -L bombs on SCO Openserver 5.0.5 ------- Additional Comments From Sam Vaughan 2001-12-13 08:17 ------- This seems to be fixed in Openserver 5.0.6. The above command runs as expected. So something has changed between 5.0.5 and 5.0.6 in the way select

OpenSHH on SCO Open Server 3
Is anyone still using OpenSSH on SCO Open Server 3? My clients no longer run Open Server 3. The entropy gathering code changes have broken the Open Server 3 build. If there is still interest I'll work on it. If not, I have no need for it. -- Tim Rice Multitalents (707) 887-1469 tim at multitalents.net

Bug in yum Logwatch reporting
I've been noticing yum updates on several servers I manage over the last few weeks, which I know I didn't perform and could not explain until this morning. At first I suspect a break-in, but found no other evidence or reason an intruder would run the yum updates I was viewing. Yum updates are logged in /var/log/yum.log, which is what Logwatch scans. Seems that the format of the log

And route print? Do you have any servers on the WAN? (or is everyone connecting to the servers THROUGH the WAN?) Can you see the samba machines at all in network neghborhood? What happens when you type in the UNC of a samba server manually? (i.e. \\SAMBASERVERNAME) I hope I can help you, and I'm trying, but I'm not a samba guru. -Dan PS. 10 Year old IT Infrastructure
Hi Guys, I have a client who hopes to keep their server another 5 years making it 10 years old at that time. At this point there are no plans to add new infrastructure or a new server to the mix. Their business model is fairly static. I'd like to see them upgrade. Can anyone suggest specific reasons why running a business on 10 year old equipment is a bad thing? Specific arguments I can

Is there another way of doing the bindings so that the Windows share doesn't run on TCP/IP but will still work with SAMBA? If so, where in the docs should I be looking, and if not - maybe this should be something discussed by the SAMBA dev people.. Regards, Marc. period of time (hours up to weeks sometimes), and then 'certain' pc's would no longer be able to connect to samba, but other pc's would still be working. And the pc's affected are not the same each time. this might be the case if what is REALLY going on is that the pc's that are STILL working never lost their connection to SAMBA/iX, so they already(still) have a working

I will get a smbd process started. (If this is incorrect please let me know ;) But this morning I did a quick ps -ax on my machine and found *two* smbd -D in the process list. But as far as I know there is no connection to the samba server right now. I did connect to and disconnect from the server yesterday but I would think that that connection would have been released by now. Can anyone
