Looking for player recommendations...
I'm looking for personal recommendations for low cost flash based players which support Vorbis (speex and flac support would be nice, but aren't mandatory). Solid support (no weird limits for low and high bitrates) is required. I'd be buying a fair quantity of them to give away as prizes and gifts. I'd rather purchase players which have native Vorbis support rather than buying

Rubbish performance in Oblivion
Hi there, I've been trying to play The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion under Linux. But under WINE performance is horrible. 640 x 480 minimum settings, and I'm getting about 4 FPS. The game runes maxed out at 1680 x 1050 with 4xAA all settings to maximum smooth on Windows. Wine 1.1.6 Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex fglrx 8.10 ATi Radeon 3870. I appreciate any responses. Btw Direct Rendering is working, and I'm not running compiz.

TF2 with GTX260 and Quad-core Phenom II - what performance?
...th DX8.1. Lower if there's a lot of action onscreen. The interesting thing is that my frame-rate doesn't change significantly with resolution or settings: At all minimum/low settings and 1024x768 I get the same basic framerate that I do with a ~1920x1080 full-size window at max settings and 4xAA! If I enable multicore, I get a few fps more, but I get the whole light-blinking-through-walls problem. If I enable DX9, I get a more stable but much lower FPS, in the 15-25 range. And some HUD elements don't display, plus it sometimes just goes black. I haven't done too much testing of DX9...

Wine and 3D rendering issues
...both working at least to the point that I can start them both up and get into the game itself, but the games run ridiculously slow, like it doesn't see my graphics cards. It's not a small difference, either. Here's a framerate comparison for CS:S: Windows: 1680x1050 + Full Effects + 4xAA + 16xAF = 80 fps minimum Wine: 800x600 + Minimum settings = 5-20 fps I've installed the proper nvidia kernel package (nvidia-kernel-2.6.26-2-amd64) and installed the current nvidia-glx userspace libraries and all seems to be working fine. The glxinfo output shows direct rendering is enabled,...
