Line plot with 3 points
Dear R-experts, I have a data file df as the following: genename variable at 1hr variable at 4 hr variable at 10 hr gene1 gene2 . . . gene5000 I would like to have a graph with X-axis as the time point (1hr, 4hr, 10hr), and Y-axis as the value of the variable. So, basically, I want to do a line with the three different values at 1hr , 4hr and 10hr for all the 5000 genes. My purpose is to see a pattern for these genes. I am expecting more genes with high values at 1hr than 4hr. I tried to use ts pac...

PAM Offline Authentication in Ubuntu 22.04...
...ate Ubuntu before ? If not, I HATE UBUNTU !! So I installed Ubuntu 22.04 in a VM, now I have a useless ISP router, where some bright spark thought it would be a good idea to cripple the dhcp server on it. This isn't a problem with Debian, but it sure is with Ubuntu 22.04. It took me about 3/4hr googling and configuring before I could update. The update took a couple of hours and then when it rebooted, it wouldn't start again. I give up with Ubuntu, are you prepared to accept Debian running with a Gnome desktop and GDM ? Rowland

drop dead fix
Hello list, I am about to have to dump Asterisk in favor of some other VOIP/PBX solution; the reason? I have 304 voice prompts recorded as 22Khz wav format files that sound like crumpling paper whenever I convert them to the 8Khz wav/gsm format required by Asterisk. I was considering trying the G.729 codec, but reading through the specs, I see that the 8Khz conversion is going to

Samba embedded device?
...crappy used disks for <$100 780s can be had for $150 or so, depending. Sure, they are SATA drives, no ECC memory etc - but for a small work-group, with some good backup they should be more than adequate. Pick up a few extras for hot-spares and you can do all your own warranty service with a <4hr window at a very attractive price! :) [The only things likely to fail are power-supplies and/or disks. The hot-spares takes care of PS problems (as well as anything else), and disks would be an issue with any setup.] I'd obviously drop new disk(s) in, and run them a while to weed out early fai...

Samba embedded device?
Hi team! At work I have several small branch offices with ~5 PCs each. All PCs are member of a Samba4 domain, whose DCs are on the headquarters (linked by consumer grade VPNs) I want to ship "some small, cheap, reliable and magical device" to each branch, in order to provide just 2 things: * AD replication * File shares That't it, period. Nothing fancy. Suggestions??? What do you

In the market for a new (old) laptop
...I am looking to go cheap. Here is what I am looking for: Runs Centos (duh!) Supports Suspend to memory as well as to disk. Bootable from USB devices, e.g. USB CDdrive, SD card, etc. 12" LCD, ie. a small unit that can be used on a plane! Good battery life, 2nd battery an option (min 4hr battery time, perfer 8hr). Swappable drives (preferably not requing a screw driver as my old Portege or a non-findable drive carrier as my HP nc4010). Built in Ethernet, and 2 USB 2.0 ports miniPCI wireless (external antenna options would be nice!) Eraser-head mouse pointer (IBM thinkpad-style), o...
