how can I stress a server?
..., with an Intel DG35EC motherboard, Q9300 CPU, 8GB
Kingston DDRII RAM which can't take a lot of load. I have 4 XEN VPS's
on there, which doesn't consume more than 4GBM RAM at this stage. Yet,
the machine sky rockets at some times. I've moved the XEN VPS's to
another server, with 4GM RAM, and it doesn't cause the same problems.
So, apart from memtest86 how else can I stress test the server to find
out what the problem is?

The command I use is rlm(Y~A+D+V*G,data=data.dat)
I got the same error message:
Error in rep(data, t1) : cannot allocate vector of length 467748756
I am using a unix machine of 4GM memory. I would like to know if R is
using all the available memory and/or how much memory R would use to
handle is data set.

Intel 1000/PRO GT (e1000 driver) and "Detect Tx Unit Hang" error with 4GB RAM
...0W PSU that came with the case (I have new 500W PSUs on the
way). So, I pulled
out one of the NICs and disconnected the DVD drive. That is about all
I can eliminate.
Reducing the hardware installed made no difference.
I am running the 64-bit kernel, so I should have no trouble supporting
the 4GM RAM,
correct?.
Now, I am out of ideas, and I seem to have hit a brick wall. One of
the things that
disturbs me is that all of the articles I have found concerning this
problem are dated
1-2 years ago.
Can anyone offer me any assistance?

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list.
I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without
modifications.
How did I try it?
Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock )
Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a
rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee
prep-out.log
The build failed at the end:
