Why Aastra uses 48V whereas other IP Phones use much less, i.e. 5-12V
Hi, Why Aastra phones use more electricity, i.e. 48VDC whereas other phones use much less, e.g. Grandstream and Linksys both use only 5VDC. I first thought it was because of PoE, but the ones with 5VDC also run fine on PoE. What is the difference in power consumption then? -- Zeeshan A Zakaria -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachm...

Logic problem in NUT with upscode2 driver
...port battery charge, so per the man page the upscode2 driver synthesizes that value based on nominal battery min/max and current battery voltage) Anyway, then the UPS shuts off the battery charger. The battery voltage then starts dropping gradually until the battery voltage hits a bit above 48v then the charger turns back on. (this takes about 2 days) For example, right now the battery voltage of each bank (as shown by upsc and confirmed by a voltmeter) is 50.5 volts yet the calculated state of charge is 64% even though the UPS is reporting a nominal battery voltage of 48v and the b...

Back to apcupsd
...the service, the USB stuff had stopped. Ok, one problem down. The change battery light's still on. I'll see if it still is in the morning. One thing I did note, while skimming the docs, and comparing my results from apcaccess, was that while the nominal voltage for the APC SmartUPS 3000 is 48V, the new batteries are showing 55.4V. Anyone have any idea if this could be why the replace battery light's on - it's more than 5V difference? mark

OT: cisco 7960G powered by 3com 3CNJPSE
Is anyone using a 3com 3CNJPSE to power a 7960G? I have a couple of 7960Gs and 3CNJPSEs but no combination appears to work. Both phones work fine with a cisco power cube. I get a 47.6V reading across pins 5 and 8 on the patch cable coming from the 3CNJPSE. The network still works through the 3CNJPSE, just no power to the phone until I connect the power cube. Using two straight through wired

PANASONIC KX-TS208W - Speakerphone Incompatible With Asterisk 1.2.3
I'm using Asterisk 1.2.3 and PANASONIC KX-TS208W - Speakerphone does not work with it. It works fine when you pick up the handset. Anyone experinced this problem before, the speaker works fine with Verizon line. The phone is behind a Linsys router RT31P2. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Polycom Power
...PoE cable in addition to whatever PoE injection method I use? I have a Cisco PoE injector that works on my Cisco AP350 and my 7960. No combination of this injector, the Polycom cable, and the phone result in success. I have 18v PoE injectors that I use for other things, but I hear that 802.3af is 48v, therefore probably wouldn't work. How do I use Polycom PoE? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/attachments/20070329/6cd56055/attachment.htm

APC Smartups protocol - Hidden Programming Mode
Hej! Hope nut-upsuser is an appropriate place to post additional info about the smartups protocol, please tell me if not. I got an APC Smartups 2200 (5U Rack Mount, European/230V version, 48V batteries) a couple of days ago, was very happy to find the protocol description at http://www.networkupstools.org/protocols/apcsmart.html, and started to play. Power-outage
I have a CentOS-5.6 remote server in a house in Italy, where there are occasional thunder-storms. There was one yesterday, when the electricity went off 3 times, for a second or so on each occasion. My server, an HP MicroServer, came back (re-booted) on 2 of the 3 occasions, but not on the third. I assume that the problem arises because the machine does not close down properly. (Although it is

X100M never goes on-hook state
...ly with the resistor, to check it out. In order to isolate the problem even more, I plugged the FXO port in one FXS port. Immediately after plugging it, Asterisk announced at the console that someone went off-hook at the FXS port. So, it's not really a carrier issue. The FXS port is perfectly -48V on-hook, and about 20 mA in the circuit when off-hook, closer than the carrier to the standard values. Any clue is welcome. -- MARLON DUTRA Propus GnuPG ID: 0x3E2060AC pgp.mit.edu http://www.propus.com.br/ http://hackers.propus.com.br/~marlon/

Quiet 24 port POE gig switch
A little off topic but.... I need to put a 24 port Gig PoE switch into a small office - no computer room / rack etc. All CAT5 terminates near the owners desk (smart huh?). I want to put a PoE switch in place, with 24 ports and Gig speed. Everyone I've researched so far is LOUD... Anyone know of a quiet one? Thanks -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment

Tripp Lite SU5000RT3U

After installing all required packages from the Ubuntu repos (had to run sudo apt-get install dkms, I had to install the displaylink drivers from displaylink.org by doing sudo ./displaylink-driver-4.2.29.run, and I created a sim link by doing the following: sudo ln

Tripp Lite SMART3000RM2U (protocol 3003) running time and charge?
Hello, I own an older Tripp Lite SMART3000RM2U (protocol 3003). It does not work with usbhid-ups but it mostly works with the tripplite_usb driver (nut 2.7.1, the latest in the Gentoo tree), in the sense that the status (on line, on battery, etc.) is detected correctly, the machine is shut down on critical battery, and I can even get some information from the UPS. This is how it all looks:

[A-bit-OT] Power Over Ethernet Discovery process
...a mid value of 22.75K <quote> The Discovery Process Power Over Ethernet PSEs are responsible for ensuring that conventional Ethernet equipment is not damaged by the unexpected application of 48 Volts. The PSEs must determine that a Power Over Ethernet compliant device is present before the 48V is applied. This is done by the "discovery process". A relatively low voltage, current limited, is applied to the CAT-5 cable periodically. A compliant device is required to have a certain DC resistance between its twisted pairs. If the device presents this resistance then power can be ap...

TDM400 w/ FXS S110M pinout on RJ11 connector?
...out when I used a cable with only the inner pair connected and everything just works to work. After some more testing I discover that I'm actually causing a complete _short_ on the battery voltage by looping the inner pair back to the outer pair in the phone! The voltage drops from approx. -48V to 0.0V. To my question: Does anyone know what's actually connected to the outer pair on the TDM400 ports? I guess the only workaround is to only use cables where only the two wires from the inner pair is connected? This might be informative to others trying the same thing as I did, I thoug...
