space problem
CentOS 6.2. I have a 2TB drive, one partition, which is used for online backups. It filled up the other day. I moved a couple of b/u directories off it, and deleted the originals, which should have given me 42G free. I also reduced the reserved blocks by 1/3rd. I've just finished an fsck, which it needed anyway, and in which there was a problem in an HTREE directory node. df *still* tells me

RFC: Dealing with out of tree changes and the LLVM git monorepo

(Then unfortunately gitk flipped out and after 40 minutes it ate 42GB of memory (and continued grabbing more) but I don't know if that's a problem that is perhaps solved in a more recent git version than I'm running or what the problem really is.) Thanks, Mikael > > Note that this is just a demo/prototype. It has some minor issues, isn't &...

R, PostgresSQL and poor performance
...'ve only been using R for the last month or two so any tips / advice on how to speed up the query or how to track down the source of the poor performance would be appreciated. For info, I get similar poor performance running R (2.14.0) on a linux workstation (Linux 2.6.16.60-0.91.1-smp x86_64, 42GB memory, 2 6 core processors) running SUSE. Mellanox SR-IOV IB PCI passthrough in Xen - MSI-X pciback issue
...age InfiniBand interconnects. However, I have run into some issues using the xen-pciback driver and its initialization of MSI-X as required for VFs in Xen. The hardware used is Mellanox Connect X3 MT27500 VPI pci-express cards set up in InfiniBand mode in HP blades with Intel Xeon E5-2670 CPUs and 42GB of memory. SR-IOV is enabled in the system BIOS along with VT-X, and of course VT-d. This system is a RHEL/CENTOS 6.4 x86_64 Dom0 running a 3.9.3-1 kernel with Xen 4.1.2 installed and intel_iommu enabled in the kernel. The advantage of this kernel is the built-in mlx4_core/en/ib kernel modules...

mbox vs. maildir storage block waste
...I recently mentioned in several posts, that I'd tended to use mbox rather than maildir, because you don't loose so much space (due to always allocating full blocks per maildir file and thus per mail). I made some tests of my archive, which consists of some 3,4 million mails at a total of 42GB). Most of these mails are probably normal sized, but there are also some with bigger attachments. For those who are interested here are the results: I used a 53687091200 B image file (via loop device) and tested ext4 only. btrfs is IMHO not yet ready, I have had often issues with XFS (corruptio...

'puppet storeconfigs export' killed
Hi, I currently have a MySQL database containing all Puppet storeconfigs. My intention is to migrate to PuppetDB on a PostgreSQL server, so the first step is to use the ''storeconfigs'' face to export all the DB to a file PuppetDB can later consume. But the ''puppet storeconfigs export'' command always ends up being killed, I suspect due to some sort of OOM
