xmms-flac plugin in OS X - Apple X11
I have been using Apple's X11 on OS X and I got the source and compiled flac 1.0.5 beta2. Everything seemed to build and install OK, but the xmms-flac plugin is not working, and I cannot open xmms. I get the following error when I launch xmms from xterm: brian it's 8:41pm, what now? xmms & [1] 567 brian it's 8:41pm, what now? dyld: xmms Undefined symbols: _FLAC_plugin__charset_get_current [1] Trace/BPT trap xmms brian it's 8:41pm, what now? I am not sure exactly where to go from here, or what might be causing this. Any thoughts? Th...

live migration in between different CPU families
Hi, referring to thread: http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/xen/users/177385#177385. I have the same thing going on: hypervisors with E5620 Xeon CPUs and hypervisors with E5410 CPUs. Live migrations go wrong when domU''s are not created on the latter and move from the E5410 servers to more recent ones. The rationale being that these CPU''s have less or other capabilities

poor samba performance with many smaller files
The directory is small, it contains only one file. stat() takes 15ms and if I read 1000 files it sums to 15 seconds. So the issue is really that open file is synchronous. process killed
Hello, I''ve come across a strange problem when installing a particular software package in a domU. I''m trying to install DigiChat (http://www.digichat.com/downloads.html) and the process is immediately killed. I have installed the package with no problems in a VMware VM, UML and native. ...Even installed into a UML, then copied the entire filesystem over and created a domU

Stripping HTML tags from a string
Hello, Is there a common way of stripping html tags from a string? Right now I''m just calling gsub!(/<.*?>/, ''''), but with a background in PHP and always having used its strip_tags() method, I wonder if the Rails community has standardized this fairly common task with something a bit less simpleminded than my quick fix. Thanks! Zack -------------- next part

Port 139 versus Port 445
I've noticed that my W2K clients connect to Samba much more quickly if I run it on port 445 instead of 139. However, my WNT clients then won't connect at all. I read somewhere that it was possible to forward the requests on port 139 to port 445. Anyone know how to do this or how to listen to both ports simultaneously?
