+ in email addresses - edge case with a lot of variation between implementations.
http://babelmark.bobtfish.net/?markdown=%3Ca%2Bb%40c.org%3E&normalize=on
Only Python markdown, Pandoc, discount and PEG markdown seem to get
this 'right'.
As a + is perfectly valid in email addresses, I'm going to fix this
in my modules.
This was reported to me via the cpan.org RT (37909), and I thought
I'd share as it...

It certainly is. And, I suppose, this will work, for a while, as long as:
The "sealed cabinet", has enough expansion capacity for the oil to expand from heating;
Has enough surface area to effectively radiate the heat that is continuously generated,

R on EC2 and R CMD javareconf
Hello,
I am using EC2 to launch several instances. On each instance, I
perform the following commands
yum -y install R (installs R-2.6)
R CMD javareconf
sleep 10
wget rpackage.tgz
R CMD INSTALL rpackage.tgz
Now, rpackage.tgz needs to be built with jni libraries. When the
instance is fully up, i log in and check if rpackage was successfully
installed and find out it wasn't.
Running

Temperature sensor
Does anyone know of a cheap temperature sensor that will work with
Linux? I don't need a fancy monitoring appliance, I just want a simple
sensor that I can connect to one of my monitoring servers to let me know
if the server room is getting hot.

SIP phones cutting out with Asterisk??
Hi folks,
I've got a very bizarre problem recurring when making calls with Polycom
SoundPoint IP500 SIP phones and Asterisk. Sometimes when a call comes
in to an IP500, one of the sides of the conversation is cut off (i.e.
the caller can't hear the callee, or vice-versa). This isn't easily
repeated, and rebooting the phone, or restarting Asterisk, doesn't seem
to have an

RAID 6 - opinions
I'm setting up this huge RAID 6 box. I've always thought of hot spares,
but I'm reading things that are comparing RAID 5 with a hot spare to RAID
6, implying that the latter doesn't need one. I *certainly* have enough
drives to spare in this RAID box: 42 of 'em, so two questions: should I
assign one or more hot spares, and, if so, how many?

CentOS 6 spontaneous reboots
...+. No memory errors were found.
I turned off swap.
I unplugged the USB hard drive that I use to hold daily and weekly backups. It
was being recognized as /dev/sda for some reason.
Lm_sensors shows the processor running between 45 and 50C. Hddtemp
shows the hard drives running between 35 and 40C. LM_Sensors does not
produce valid data on fan speed, but a visual check shows all fans running
normally and no build-up of dust.
The system is behind a big UPS that runs several other systems. The UPS log
file does not record any power failures and none of the other systems are
rebooting at...

[LLVMdev] Boostrap Failure -- Expected Differences?
The saga continues.
I've been tracking the interface changes and merging them with
the refactoring work I'm doing. I got as far as building stage3
of llvm-gcc but the object files from stage2 and stage3 differ:
warning: ./cc1-checksum.o differs
warning: ./cc1plus-checksum.o differs
(Are the above two ok?)
The list below is clearly bad. I think it's every object file in

Serial ATA hardware raid.
Hi everyone,
I'm looking into setting up a SATA hardware raid, probably 5 to use with
CentOS 4. I chose hardware raid over software mostly because I like the
fact that the raid is transparent to the OS.
Does anyone know of any SATA controllers that are well tested for this
sort of usage?
From what I can tell from googling, this is more or less where RHEL stands:

[PATCH 00/10] Add support for MPEG2 and VC-1 on VP3/VP4 for NV98-NVAF
As it turns out, with the proprietary firmware, the VP3 and VP4 interfaces are
identical. Furthermore, this is all already implemented for nvc0. So these
patches (a) move the easily sharable bits of the nvc0 implementation into the
nouveau directory, and then (b) implement the other parts in nv50. The
non-shared parts are still largely copies, but there are some differences, not
the least of which

Need help with fixing the Xen waitqueue feature
The patch ''mem_event: use wait queue when ring is full'' I just sent out
makes use of the waitqueue feature. There are two issues I get with the
change applied:
I think I got the logic right, and in my testing vcpu->pause_count drops
to zero in p2m_mem_paging_resume(). But for some reason the vcpu does
not make progress after the first wakeup. In my debugging there is one

gaming on multiple OS of the same machine?
Hi,
I am new to Xen and I was wondering if the following construction would be
feasible with the current Xen.
I would like to put 2/3/4 new computers in my house, mainly for gaming.
Instead of buying 2/3/4 different computers, I was thinking of building one
computer with a 4/6/8-core CPU, 2/3/4 GPUs, 2/3/4 small SSDs, and attach
2/3/4 monitors to it, 2/3/4 keyboards and 2/3/4 mouses, and run VGA
