Slow reading of large dovecot-uidlist files
Hi there,
(context: I was optimizing Roundcube mailbox list server response, and in
that 300-400ms response time, around 170ms is spent on single fgets() call
which is waiting IMAP repsonse to "SELECT MyMailbox" command)
I straced dovecot and of the whole request/response process, around 30ms is
spent for everything else, and overwhelming majority of time (150-170ms) is
spent for read...

Opus DTX issue report
Hello:
We noticed that opus reconstructed noise is pulsing with a 400ms pattern when dtx is enabled in silk mode. This is independent of the background noise level and is found with speech + non-speech period test files as well as variable level noise-only test files. This issue can be reproduced with opus v1.1 using this command:
./opus_demo voip 1600...

X100P incoming calls - "hangup" delay
Hi All,
I wasn't too sure how to word the subject, so I apologise for that.
Anyway, I've got two X100P cards here accepting calls. Basically in
Australia our ring cadence is 400ms on, 200ms off, 400ms on, 2000ms off,
repeat.
What I've noticed is that it takes about 8 seconds after the caller has
hungup for the internal phones to stop ringing, whereas in Australia the
maximum time would be 2 seconds (or 2.5 to be safe).
I was just wondering if somebody might know if the...

Periodical noise during DTX
Hi.
I experienced same issue reported in
https://gitlab.xiph.org/xiph/opus/issues/2026
The problem is that there are periodical(400ms) noise during DTX when the
noise changed dramatically.
I have found that the VAD value of silk does not affects to the
DTX decision.
If the background noise suddenly changes(by excessive echo cancellation,
mute on/off operation, etc.) the silk generate a voice activated frame.
Nevertheless, opus...

OT: MAX TNT and PRI calling name (CNAM) facility message
...it does receive the
message, but due to limitations of the CLI, I cannot correlate whether
it's received before or after the INVITE is dispatched. It works
great direct to Asterisk (of course) via TE410P on the same NI-2
spans.
My FACILITY message that contains the CNAM wanders in from 100 to
400ms after the initial SETUP. I can't seem to find any way to get
the MAX to stall for a half-second before invoking the INVITE (if
that's even the issue). Is my provider too slow? Is there another
valid way for CNAM to be provided during the SETUP message, assuming
my provider can stall the...

Hi all,
Anyone has experience using * through
128 kbs (or bigger) satelite link?
In particular I am interested to hear how many calls could be put

Help needed regarding Echo Cancellation
...packets from DirectSound Buffer

frame is of low amplitude and many values of it are 0

-- Since the values are small, I applied AGC on echo
frame with another Speex preprocessor before passing
it to EC. With this approach and echo tail 400ms, I
get very good echo cancellation. But some times we get
distorted audio, sounds like someone speaking in pipe

we apply speex AGC on echo frame before passing it to

How does the jitter buffer "catch up"?
...ost, no harm is done, because
all that happens is that the codec extrapolates a bit, meaning you get a few
hundred ms of alien sounds :)
In an ideal world, you'd like to use Speex DTX mode, which puts the decoder in
"generate comfort noise" mode and also transfers one packet every 400ms (I
think) to update the noise profile, but if you use the denoiser of the
preprocessor then comfort noise == silence.

Architecture Advice
We have 2 offices. One is in the US and the other in India. We are
testing Asterisk as a possible solution. Does anyone have advice for the
preferred architecture when dealing with the latency from the US to
India?
For example, although it is not a requirement to have an Asterisk server
in India it may make sense to have one there and connect office to
office vi IAX since I hear that it supports

Opus DTX issue report
Hi Gonzalo,
Thanks for reporting this DTX issue. It should now be fixed in git. Can
you confirm this it is indeed the case?
Cheers,
Jean-Marc

DTX Seems to be Wrong for 10ms Frame Size
Tested DTX feature in Opus 1.0.2 and 1.1 for 20, 40, and 60ms frame size. They all generated only one encoded frame every 400ms during silence period as expected. However, for 10 ms frame size, the DTX period was 200ms instead. Has anyone else experienced the same?
Thanks,
Chris Wang

Indirect routing issue?
...al routing. My setup is this:
HostA (local. ConnectTo = HostC)
HostB (geographically close. ConnectTo = HostC)
HostC (far away. ConnectTo = nothing)
Without tinc, pings from HostA to HostB take around 10ms, and from
HostA/B to HostC around 200ms.
With tinc, pings from HostA to HostB take nearly 400ms. HostA/B to HostC
are essentially unchanged.
Based on the numbers it kind of seems like under tinc, traffic from
HostA to HostB is being routed via HostC, all the way on the other side
of the world. This seems like a strange decision giving that the direct
path is clearly faster. What's th...

DRBD + Remus High IO load frozen
Dear all,
I have installed DRBD 8.3.11 compiled from sources. However the backend
block will freeze if there is high IO load. I use Remus to support high
availability and checkpointing is controlled by remus for each 400ms.
If I check the Iostat I got the idle CPU will decreasing extremely each
checkpointing and when its reach 0% of idle cpu the local backing device
will freeze and damage the replication.

Database calls in my views?
I am working on re-factoring my admittedly ambitious employee
management Rails app that I created for work. The good news is, my
first major version went over like a dream(With no small amount of
thanks due to the community and the support)! All of the functionality
the bosses dreamed of! The bad news? It''s REALLY SLOW. So I rolled up
my sleeves and have been working on some re-writes
