smbmount, smbumount and smbmnt
...system. The requirement is that the system should be able to mount windows share points. I believe "smbmount, smbumount and smbmnt" components are needed to do the same. I am not very clear about smbmnt though! I find that smbmount, smbumount and smbmnt are all quite huge. Around 300 to 400Kb each. I understand that Samba is capable of doing complex things. However if all i need is the ability to mount and unmount share points do i need this big a smbmount, smbumount and smbmnt? Also whenever i choose SMB_FS support in the Kernel configuration, i am forced to choose the NLS. Do i real...

1.8.4 and write-through cache
...hem is * md on first 20 nodes * 3ware 9650SE ML12 on last 10 nodes After the upgrade to 1.8.4 we were seeing terrible throughput on the nodes with 3ware cards (and only the nodes with 3ware cards). This was typified by see the block device being 100% utilised (iostat), doing about 100r/s and 400kb/s and all the ost_io threads in D state (no writes). They would be in this state for 10mins and then suddenly awake and start pushing data again. 1-2 mins later, they would lock up again. The oss''s were dumping stacks all over the place, crawling along and generally making our lustrefs...

Large size shared library
...it gave me a note when I ran "R CMD check --as-cran" saying that my libs directory is 7.0Mb. I wrote some functions in C++ and my source code included several low-level C++ libraries as header files. When I compiled manually using g++ without the -g flag, my shared library (.so) was about 400Kb; but when I compiled with the -g flag, it was about 7.0Mb... I am assuming there was a lot of debugging information created when I turned on -g, possibly because the compiler had to look for a lot of classes and functions in low-level C++ libraries, but I am worried that the package would fail CRAN...

Gluster's read performance
...1MB/1GB? 2) If I am using NFS mount at the client I am most likely loosing the high availability feature of gluster. unlike fuse mount where if primary goes down I don't need to worry about availability. Basically my production environment will mostly have read operations of files ranging from 400KB to 5MB and they will be concurrently read by different threads. Find reason for heavy load
...is script used to trigger perhaps once an hour during peak periods. Even so, I seldom see numbers higher than 1.x On 4th Dec, somebody from an Indian IP range started hammering my SMTP service, attempting to use it as an open relay. Naturally that didn't work and only end up budging my typical 400KB daily log report into 2MB~4MB affairs. After observing a few days to determine the IP range, I started blocking the Indian subnet with apf. Initially I had problems with getting apf to wok properly but after a couple of days managed to get the block working and my daily log went back down to expec...

Test failure on ARM: backtrace_append
...>Aki Thanks, it took me two hours to produce the core dump, but here it is. I suppose putting it as an attachment is not ok for a mailing list, so I put it on my server instead (tell me if you want it as an attachment instead, I couldn't find that info). See https://lepiller.eu/files/core (400KB) and https://lepiller.eu/files/test-lib (2.7MB) (the program that dumped core). Thanks for your help!

...cation for user [assistance] -> [assistance] -> [assistance] succeeded The eventlog on XP also didnt reveal anything interesting (like it would when its the sign/seal-problem) The full smb-log at LogLevel=3 can be found at: http://www.goldfisch.at/temp/smb.log the smb-log at LogLevel=15 (~400kb) can be found at: http://www.goldfisch.at/temp/smb.level15.log If posting any other log might help please let me know. I would do anything do solve this problem cause it drives me nuts not being able to logon a simple user in my small domain. smb.conf : --------------------------------------- [...

...ave some stack output. Correct me if I am wrong. I have attached the file for detailed analysis. Please check it and let me know about the possible bug/solution. The log shows no sign of any ext3 problem. I can't see anything in it which would justify trying to send a compressed log of nearly 400kB to an ext3 general users mailing list. For what it's worth, your dcache oopses are most often associated with bad memory --- try memtest86 on that machine before you go any further. --Stephen

CIFS vs NFS
...? So how do I share and mount a over samba the same way, so that UIDs and GIDs are working? How can I mount //server/xxx so that two local users can create files with their respective UIDs? Otherwise I'm interested in samba parameters that will increase throughput in my setting (millions of 300-400kb files). Magnus

Slow usb/umass CompactFlash reader
I've just updated to a snapshot of 4.9-PRERELEASE. The usb/umass support seems *much* more stable than I found it with 4.8. My Oracom USB MP3 player now works without errors, and achieves up to 400KB/sec throughput. However, if I connect my Belkin CompactFlash reader instead, that's very, very slow indeed. The greatest data rate I see is about 4KB/sec, although no errors are reports. Needless to say, this works much faster under Windows :( Any suggestions gratefully received: mkn@s...

Delay Job on File upload handler
Hi, I have developed application with rails 3.0.7 on heroku that target multiple user with high volume of uploading file (size aprox 400kb). My question is, does when one user submit a file, are the instance that handle the request got bounded to that request so other request will have to wait for it to complete ? Also, does handling this kind of request are better in a delayed job to improve performance and scalability ? I really...

[LLVMdev] Regarding exceptions (new to this list)
Hello, I am, as said in the subject, new to this list. I have not actually used LLVM, I tried with an older version but failed. Recently I noticed that 1.7 came out and looked at the release notes. And there was something that stroke me: llvm-g++ adheres to the IA64 ABI but _not for exceptions_. I was not able to find information why this is so and why it is necessary, so I hope you don't
