Last call for 4.05
I'm going to try to push 4.05 out this week, so please holler if there
is anything critical missing.

interpolation and extremum location of a surface
Hello,
I have a x,y,z file.Z is not corresponding to a simple analytical function of x and y (see below).
I am trying to find the minimum location of this surface and the z value corresponding to this location by a spline interpolation or from a polynomial fit.
I tried with the akima package but as the location of the point I am looking for (the minimum) is outside of the convex hull it's

What are the difference between 4.05 pre and 4.10 pre?
I've noticed the 14 pre versions of 4.10, but then there is now a
new 4.05 pre?

lss broken when upgraded 4.05 to 6.03
Hi,
I have just joined the list.
I am the original creator of Puppy Linux, now letting other guys take
the reins, and I am working on a fork of Puppy called Quirky Linux,
where I try various experimental ideas.
Up until now, in Puppy and all offshoots, we have used syslinux 4.05 or older.
Over the last few days I have been testing 6.03 (using the binary DEBs
from Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn),

VirtualBox virtual machine hangs after ISOlinux upgrade 4.05->5.10 and up.
Hello,
I have specialized linux installation which uses ISOLinux bootloader. Recently isolinux version has changed from 4.05 to 5.10. From that time there is a problem with VirtualBox VM, It crashes (guru meditation) on attempt to boot from HDD or hangs on installation from CD.
Strange part is, the very same ISO on ESXi VM works like a charm. Also burned on CD and started on "real"

booting FreeDOS ISO image using syslinux hangs
I would like to boot FreeDOS ISO image from USB memory stick using
syslinux. I have done following:
1) I created a partition to my 2GB memory stick:

Disk /dev/sdb: 2013 MB, 2013265920 bytes
62 heads, 62 sectors/track, 1022 cylinders, total 3932160 sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes

Revisiting minimum OCaml version
Previously discussed:
https://www.redhat.com/archives/libguestfs/2017-September/msg00203.html
Currently libguestfs and virt-v2v require OCaml >= 4.01. (That's
perhaps theoretical, as I don't think anyone is really compiling them
with such an old compiler). This causes a bunch of trouble. To my
mind the major things are:
- Having to have the "Bytes" compatibility module

MBA the h value?
Hello everybody,
I am trying different ways of interpolating a surface.
Now, I am trying to interpolate these values using the MBA package. In order to do it I am using the surface option of the package.
mba.surf(xyz, 20, 20, n = 1, m = 1, h = 8, extend=FALSE,
sp=FALSE, ...)
The function is giving me some results but not reliable at all.
Maybe it's due to the n,m and h values which are

ifmemdsk.c32 in 4.05
Hello HPA,
In the changelog for v.4.05: ifmemdsk.c32 was added, BUT
com32/modules has only ifmemdsk.c , not the final binary, ifmemdsk.c32 .
This is not the only module in such situation, but since it was explicitly added in the v.4.05 changelog...
So, unless there is some reason not to, you should add ifmemdsk.c32 in com32/modules/Makefile .
As of v.4.06-pre10, the issue is still not

syslinux 4.05 with HDT 5.0
Dear all,
I recently installed the new syslinux 4.05 which comes with HDT 5.0.
However I think this new version broke the HDT option to dump_filename=blabla which is no longer working. I tried this on 2 different distro's but I can't get it to work.
Does anyone else having this problem?

Some behaviors observed in recent versions
Testing the following (uncommon) syslinux.cfg with different Syslinux
versions allows getting to several observations; some might be of

cannot compile simple.c from within Syslinux 6.03
Hello All,
This is my first time requesting help, so please bear with me. I don't upgrade Syslinux very often (only when the need arises), until now I have been using version 4.05. However, I have recently acquired several UEFI servers that are in need of being able to do OS installations via pxelinux. I have upgraded to Syslinux version 6.03, however I am not able to compile my custom

Hello,
I noticed the following behavior of extlinux 4.05:
I created an ext3 filesystem on the first (primary and active) partition
of a usb stick. I mounted it at /mnt/. Then I copied to /mnt/ldlinux.sys
the ldlinux.sys found in the syslinux 4.05 archive and I created a basic
/mnt/extlinux.cfg.
Then I ran "extlinux -i /mnt/" and rebooted on the usb stick. I got

Syslinux 4.05 released
Changes in 4.05:
* HDT updated, and now supports uploading data to a TFTP
server.
* ISOLINUX: remove the .img file support; it has been broken
on virtually all systems since the beginning, and has been
totally broken since 4.00 at least. Use MEMDISK instead.
* chain.c32: Support chaining ReactOS' FreeLdr (Shao Miller)

4.05 stable - domain join attempt failing with "NO DNS zone information found in source domain, not replicating DNS", followed by LDAP error 50
I've been trying to join Samba 4.05 stable to an existing Windows 2000
domain but keep getting an LDAP error 50 - LDAP_INSUFFICIENT_ACCESS_RIGHTS
despite attempting to joining with the Windows administrator account. I did
a capture of the network traffic generated by the failure for more
information on what's going on and discovered the following:
