linux-2.4.22 + bridge + traffic control by MAC.
Dear all, I am working on a linux box (2.4.22 kernel) which is used as a bridge. And I want to add traffic control rules on it by client''s MAC. Does anyone has such experience on how to do that? Thank you very much!! Best regards, Henry _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list LARTC@mailman.ds9a.nl http://mailman.ds9a.nl/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/lartc

Newbie Question
Hello, I'm trying to set up to stream myself as opposed to a remote server. I should have bandwidth as I'm on BT Infinity, upstream is around 3mbps. I'm streaming using Sam, and both the encoder in SAM and Icecast server appear to be running. Checked the log file and all seems well. When I set my IP adress to localhost I can tune in on my host machine, however when I try to use my IP address, I can't connect. http://86.148.107.33:...

TC in Wireless Environment
Hi, Has anyone used TC in a wireless environment, which is dynamic. I understand that the parameters for queuing are static and cannot be changed unless the queuing discipline is deleted and reloaded with different parameters. If anyone can share any experience, that would be helpful. Thanx. Azim. _______________________________________________ LARTC mailing list LARTC@mailman.ds9a.nl

Help - Poor Voice Quality
I'm struggling to get my VOIP installation to be acceptable. I'm looking for advice on what else I can look for. My system: o Teliax VOIP service, voip-ny1 proxy o RCN Cable Internet Service (3Mbps download, 500kbps upload, 6ms average jitter) o 3.2 GHZ P4 Server (runs asterisk, firewall, other stuff) o server lightly loaded o Linux kernel 2.6.19.2 o Shorewall Firewall software with QOS configured for VOIP P1 o Asterisk 1.4.0 o Sipura SPA-2000 o Grandstream GXP-2000 o IAX connection to telia...

The cipher 'none' in OpenSSH
...he source and all the infrastructure seemed to be there, so I added support for "-c none". See the attached patch. It has been tested between two up-todate Debian Linux (potato) boxes runngin Linux 2.2.13 and Linux 2.3.32 with openssh-1.2.1pre25. On the above said laptop transfer rates of 3MBps was obtained (loopback test) Because authentication is still done using RSA keys, there should be no huge security impacts. Also "-c none" would only be explictly specified by the user when transfering large files. As I am not subscribed to the list, I'd appreciate if any replied co...

Controlling outbound bandwidth utilization by port
Among other things, I run an http server on my home DSL line (6M/768kbit). The content includes several large image galleries, and when certain crawlers hit our server w/ multiple large image uploads, we end up with large ping time delays - sufficient to disrupt the kids'' on-line gaming. Attempts to control this with robots.txt has not be very successful; Solaris IPQoS appears quite

Outlook 2010 very slow when using IMAP - are there any tweaks?
...er with Outlook? I guess one could get sidetracked into the argument of mdbox vs. Maildir from my config however, Thunderbird is really fast and transfers large amounts of data really easily. Reaches round 130Mbps using nload performance grapher, while Outlook only manages ~50kbps but spikes at 2-3Mbps on occassion. Can anyone offer any guidence or assistance in this matter?? Actually wherever I run Dovecot, including my servers at home, it is fast and reliable. Yes I know MS is the polar opposite of anything worth using however, my company won't change and I'm stuck banging my head a...

Bullet-proof System
...standard dedicated server features (generator backup, 24/7 call support if server is down, etc.) is: * Two load balanced servers with following specs using hardware load balancing with Coyote Point switch. - Dual Xeon 3Ghz processors - 2GB RAM - RAID5 configuration (80GB available) - 3Mbps bi-directional bandwidth with $25/month per 1Mb increase Does the above sound like a fairly sound system to provide VoIP hosting? Anything seem like overkill, or anything you think should be added? Thanks in advance, Dakota -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed.....

how much bandwidth to dedicate?
I want to provide internet to home users with 256 Kbps and I have a 3 Mbps dedicated internet connection. Do you think It''s ok to split the 3 Mbps in 480 users? domU has a better networking than dom0
I am using a 2.6.35 domU guest on a 2.6.32 dom0 and a 4.0.1 Xen hypervisor. Using netperf with UDP_RR I get 1819 and 622 transaction per second for domU and dom0 respectively, but in UDP_STREAM test domU is showing a better throughput for all packet sizes (on average around 3Mbps better, on a 10/100 network with around 96Mbps average native throuput). Is it normal or I am missing something?

CBQ
...the efcbq code on dev eth1. After that, i run "tc -s qdisc". For each of the class (pfifo for EF; red for BE), there are parameters "drop" and "overlimit". For the drop parameter, is it supposed to mean how many packets is drop by the class. Eg: if i limit EF to be 3Mbps, and i send 4Mbps, shouldn''t i supposed to see some number in the drop parameter? But i only see zero for the drop parameter. Another thing, for the paramter "sent 10000 packets" shown, does it mean that i should also receive 10000 packets in Host2? I have packet loss from ro...

T-1 vs channelised T-1?
OK. Now I show my ignorance. What's the difference between a T-1 and a channelised T-1? I see that Covad's voip service (formerly GoBeam) requires a channelised T-1. Then I read recently on the list that many T-1s being installed are actually HDSL....which would be not a T-1 at all...right? Michael -- Michael Graves mgraves@pixelpower.com Sr. Product Specialist

Hiccup on streaming
...its very fluid stream at 32kbps tested with TuneIn, VLC and MX Player (for android) Also tested from Internet for last two days and noticed no hiccup, so I'm thinking that my ISP is having problems. Is there a minimum/recommended bandwith for ISP connections when streaming? Right now I have 3mbps download and 0.60mbps upload. I know I should have better upload rate, I will go to my ISP to check for other plans 2014-05-23 20:10 GMT-03:00 dragonauta <dragonauta.x at gmail.com>: > Thanks Thomas > > > 2014-05-23 17:44 GMT-03:00 "Thomas B. Memory usage
Could someone from the list help me to understand the memory usage by SMB process?. I have a samba production server with about 50-70 SMB process. Initially we had 2gb of RAM and the top command showed almost all memory had been used. There were delays in the file access and listing directories from user side. Yesterday evening we had increased the memory to 4 GB and it showed around 3GB free.

Asterisk for "Man-In-The-Middle" Trunk Side Call Recording?
[Cross-posted to the asterisk forums, so if it seems familiar...] My company is looking to implement 100% recording of inbound and outbound calls. We're pondering using Asterisk as a trunk-side monitoring system sitting between our Avaya Definity switch and our mixed bag of 6 T1 and PRI circuits. I've read with interest Matt Roth's thread on the Asterisk mailing list, however, since
