...I'm a new Ubuntu convert (installed through Wubi, and am blown away!) I'd love to get wine working so I play games etc, but I've got a lot of learning to do when it comes to installing and getting things working. So, I want to use the 1.0-rc1 version of wine, but CoD4 requires the 3dmark.diff patch. Hi, I am running wine 0.9.58 and having problems running Counter Strike: Source, Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield. I think this is caused by the direct x layer in wine. My system runs opengl programs fine using the ATI driver (Radeon 3850). Is there any way I can test directx functionality without having to download a game? Dxdiag.exe is not included in wine. I came across a problem after updating to 0.9.59 and it appears to have continued to 0.9.60. I'm just wondering what the advantages are if you're compiling from source. Is there any (noticeable) performance difference if I do so? Is it recommended I do this? I have a somewhat restricted system (900 Mhz CPU, 512 MB RAM) so it'd be nice if Wine could run a bit faster (though the recent memory management optimizations in Wine certainly seemed to help already).

Hi Ian, There have been a lot of interest on gfx passthru recently. This patch enables ATI VBIOS in passthru mode. The guest VM system BIOS (including Windows boot logo) can now show in passthru screen. We have tested with various Windows and Linux guest VMs. Please help review it.
