PORTING to IBM OS/390: select() always returning 0 in entropy.c
Hello,
I'm attempting to port OpenSSH to IBM's S/390 mainframe. Things have gone well but I have come a little unstuck with the internal PRNG. Although the commands in ssh_prng_cmds are being executed the select() seems to be returning 0 and therefore the cose is assuming that the forked process has timed out. This could be a difference in the way th...

SSH for OS/390 (ODBC SSH-Tunneling to OS/390)
...agh, and I'm a renewal projects architect in the
University of Chicago. I saw your name on a listserv - openssh-unix-dev. I
was hoping you could lend some insight to a problem we're trying to solve.
We are trying to find a way for an Oracle database to connect
securely to a mainframe (OS/390 running Model204 DB) through ODBC (Open
Database Connection protocol), which is session-based.
The vendor that is providing the ODBC listener on the Mainframe side
says they can provide SSL encryption as an alternative, but there are no
SSL-enabled ODBC drivers on the distributed side that we ca...

If this is a standard Linux system, you should be able
to download the Samba source code and just do a :
./configure
make
make install (as root)

Samba On The Mainframe
Greetings,
This is my first posting. I read that Samba can run on USS OS/390 but are
there tips or tricks that can be shared? I am a AIX systems engineer
(13mos) with 13 years experience as a MVS systems guy. Our current release
of OS/390 is 2.8 . I already found a lot of information about Samba on
OS/390 in the download page and I'm trying to make sense of it. But if t...

multiple selection syntax
Hello
This is a very newbie question on R syntax, but I do not find the answer....
I want to make a selection on an interval say choose Xint in the
interval of temperatures 390-399
I tried this syntax
Xint<- X[t>=390 && t< 400]
typing >XintI get the answer numeric(0)
it did not select any object! 'though I verified that there indeed are
occrencies of X in this interval
Any idea?
thanks

OpenSSH 2.9.9.p2 port to IBM OS/390 Unix System Services
I have done a port of OpenSSH to Unix Systems Services on IBM mainframes
running
OS/390. I have a version which seems to work with SSH 1 and 2, and most
of the ancillary programs seem to work as well. I'd really like to see
the changes (which mostly have to do with deciding which things need to
be translated between ASCII and EBCDIC) incorporated into the source
base.
What is th...

Aastra 390 w/ADSI - Doesn't automagically use "Asterisk PBX" script

I can call ADSIProg without a problem and it programs my phone. Calling
Voicemail2 also programs my phone.
However, in order for the VMail option to appear on the screen I have to
go into the Services menu, pick Asterisk PBX and pick Select.
Then the VMail soft...

evaluation of ext3 for S/390 and zSeries
Hello,
in the last weeks I evaluated ext3 on the IBM Mainframe S/390 and IBM
zSeries. (32 bit, big endian, 64 bit big endian)
Ext3 had to face high stress tests, low memory situations, spontaneous
resets as well as hardware failure simulations. I tested file system
integrity, log replay and stability with ordered and journal mode. All with
32 and 64 bit.
I think ext3...

OpenSSH for OS/390
I have been trying to compile OpenSSH_4.7p1 for OS/390 and got really stuck. IBM released a build of v3.8.1p1 several years ago, but I do not know whether anyone else has ever managed to compile it for OS/390 or OS/z.
The first problem is that the build apparently performs ssh transport exchange using EBCDIC character encoding instead of ASCII (which...

creation of an high frequency series
...create an high frequency series but I am experiencing some

My series should start at 09.30 a.m. each day and end at 16.00 for, let's
say, 2 years. I don't care on how many observations are for each day. It's
ok also one observation each minute. In this case, I would have 390
observations each day.
I have tried the following:

end <- ISOdatetime(year=2001, month=1, day=1, hour=16, min=0, sec=0,

Have you tried with apcupsd? Which protocol does apcupsd use for the

SSH on OS/390 Unix System Services
Hello
Can someone help. I have a real need to have ssh working with OS390 Unix
System Services. IBM said that they would like it there as well, but they
said the openssh organization has issues with this. Can you help me
understand what the deal is or issues are???
Thanks, Bill O'Donnell
