I use the following command to sync the home directory on the two computers, however I would like not to send the "dot" files e.g. ".ssh". Hi, I'm trying to get the --fuzzy option to work with --compare-dest with rsync 3.1.0. I'm testing with two files. "C_VOL-b001-i3818.spi" and "C_VOL-b001-i3816.spi" are copies of one another, but I've modified the latter a bit with a hex editor as a test. The modified date is still the same. I'm in need of installing two NICs in a machine that are connected to 2 different public networks and I need both IP addresses accessible from the outside. If I were to lose my main hard drive, I would like to have the opportunity to do the same as I can do using Windows: restore from my USB and have a working system. If I were to rsync everything on the main drive (excluding the backup drive, of course and a few other directories) to my USB drive, could I restore using some CD based version of Linux e.g. Knoppix?
