NFS issue
Hi List, I must be going mad or something, but got a really odd problem with NFS mount and a DVD rom. Here is the situation, /dev/md7 58G 18G 37G 33% /data which is shared out by NFS, (/etc/exportfs) This has been working since I installed the OS, Centos 4.4 I have a DVD on that is device /dev/scd0, which I can mount anywhere I like, no problem. However, the problem comes when I try to mount it under /data/shared/Photos/Archive1. It mo...

cp -al issues
...up/$prevday Then I rsync from the source to /Current So shouldn't all my previous days have hard links back to the original /backup directory? Sometimes the /backup directory will end up holding only around 200mb of data, and one of the date directories will end up holding the bulk of the 37GB, should this happen? Shouldn't /Current always have the actual copy (37Gb)? Here is the results of du from the last two days. The first day it seems normal because there was about 1.4Gb of changes, but on the second day 4-8-2004 now has changed to 9.1Gb and Current is only 29Gb?? Strange. Do...

ext3_dx_add_entry: Directory index full!
...nor device numbers in /dev/mapper, that corresponds to my mail spool. My searches suggest that the problem indicates an individual directory has too many files in it. There does not seem to be a general shortage of inodes or space. df -i shows IUse of 11% for that partition and df says 88% of the ~37G is in use. First question: what happens in these circumstances? Are files lost? Search and indexing are inefficient? The program trying to write the file gets an error (it's cyrus. 10 seconds after the errors shown above, the log has "cyrus/master[8178]: process 11850 exited, status 98&...

XFS on a 25 TB device
Hello all, I have just configured a 64-bit CentOS 5.5 machine to support an XFS filesystem as specified in the subject line. The filesystem will be used to store an extremely large number of files (in the tens of millions). Due to its extremely large size, would there be any non-standard XFS build/configuration options I should consider? Thanks. Boris. -------------- next part -------------- An

domU unbootable after unknown error
I''ve done something apparently, but can''t for the life of me figure out what. Perhaps someone can help: I have an LVM based domU which has been working without problem for weeks. I made some final changes to it last week, shut it down and ran the following to create a backup image: dd if=/dev/VolGroup00/wspd of=mail2.img bs=1M At least this is the only thing I can

Preferred backup s/w
Hi all, What is the current preferred method for backing up ZFS data pools, preferably using free ($0.00) software, and assuming that access to individual files (a la ufsbackup/ufsrestore) is required? FW: Logwatch for XXXXXXX.kd4efm.org (Linux)
Found an error or two from my logwatch report from yesterday, thought I would share this in hopes this is just first time run of the problem I noticed in the Kernel report section... Also not sure why there's an issue with automount either.... but I guess I could ask on that issue as well. I am not worried about the NAMED error, this is something that happens due to one of the services that
