...le TBF to drop the excessive traffic than the rate. ******* Scenario: ******* SRC 1,SRC 2 are sending 5MB traffic each to DEST. I have implemented TBF qdisc at Eth0 0f R1 Eth0 of R2 Eth0 & Eth1 of R3 Eth0 0f R4. the TBF applied is tc qdisc add dev eth0 root tbf rate 1mbit burst 5kb latency 350ms. ******** Result ******* But the destination is able to receive the whole traffic which is approx 10mb. I wanted to see only 1mbit of traffic and all the rest to be dropped. ******* Questions ******* 1) Is there any problem with interfaces. To know my knowledge we have to use qdisc for incoming...

C#/Silverlight port of Speex echo canceller
...back ranges from 230ms to 270ms, depending on the machine. This is roughly a 12-frame delay, and is obviously much larger than the 2-frame latency that Jean-Marc assumed when he was coding up the Speex AEC. One possible way of compensating for this would be to increase the tail (to make room for ~350ms worth of sound), but I have to imagine that's not likely to result in much cancellation. The alternative that I've been trying is to keep the tail at roughly 200 ms (within the range of recommended values), but then to buffer 10 or so frames in a queue, pulling out the oldest one when I ma...

SIP registration timeout
...th the SIP registration timeout, but since the first registration works, why would it have problems on the second or third? Has anyone else been having this problem? I am running Asterisk (1.0.5-r1) on Gentoo from a DSL connection in Thailand. My ping times to the proxy is between about 230ms and 350ms (I know this is quite long for VoIP, but when it works, it works fine for my purposes). To handle the changing of IP addresses with my DSL, I set up a local DNS server which dynamically updates the IP of an internal hostname to the IP of the external firewall, and added a script that executes a ...

Mysterious 15 second startup delay running Wine as www-data
...e to run a text mode cgi-bin Win32 program on Ubuntu 9.10. If I run it under my regular account, or via sudo -H -u www-data ./mycgi.exe it runs instantly (< 1 sec.) When run as a cgi-bin program (therefore as www-data user), there is a (measured) 15 second delay and then the program runs in 350ms and the data is returned to the client. Any idea what might be causing this mysterious 15 second delay? I can't find anything unusual in the .wine folder (which is under /var/www) According to the package manager, I am running wine1.2 version 1.1.31-0ubuntu3. The output when run via sudo lo...

TCP window based shaping
Does anyone have any pointers on how other people have implemented tcp window adjustment to do bandwidth shaping? Granted the basic idea is to set the window size to be RTT * bandwidth, but a quick squiz at google turns up mostly papers on how to implement this at the sender end with a view to some new magic TCP implementation. I''m really interested in notes on how to implement at
