problem with dom0_min_mem on vm creation
Hi List, I get the following error when trying to create a new vm. There is 1024MB total physcial memory on the machine with 320MB used. Error: I need 1045876KiB, but dom0_min_mem is 1048576 and shrinking to 1048576 KiB would leave only 1021888 KiB free. Using huge datasets
Hi, Here is what I want to do. I have a dataset containing 4.2 *million* rows and about 10 columns and want to do some statistics with it, mainly using it as a prediction set for GAM and GLM models. I tried to load it from a csv file but, after filling up memory and part of the swap (1 gb each), I get a segmentation fault and R stops. I use R under Linux. Here are my questions : 1) Has

Buffering Problems
...ing things working, however I'm having a major problem with buffering on the remote clients. Winamp almost constantly buffers when i'm listening on my 2.5Mbit DSL connection. With shoutcast it is not a problem (though I can't use stream-db with it). Here's the setup: Duron 850Mhz 320MB RAM Maxtor 7200RPM 20GB 100mbit FD to switched colo network, realizes speeds of about 30mbit up. stream-db and stream-php into icecast 1.3.11. Reencoded to 128kbit, source is all 192kbit MP3 FYI, my dsl at home is about 5 hops away with pings of approx 13ms, and like I said it is not a problem at...

How to see what Wine is detecting my VRam as
I've heard that sometimes Wine will detect a gpu as having less Vram than it really does, I know this can be fixed by entering a specific registry key, but before I mess around with the registry I want to know if Wine is detecting it well or not. Is there any way I can do this? As in see how much VRAM Wine thinks I have?

recursion depth limitations
Hello List, I am aware that one can set with recursion depth 'options(expressions = #)', but it has 500K limit. Why do we have a 500K limit on this? While some algorithms are only "solvable" feasibility with recursion and 500K sounds not too much i.e. graph algorithms for example dependency trees with large nodes easily reach to that number. Best, -m

MOre on buring ISOs
So right now I have installed k3b on this notebook. I am using my Storix DVD/CDRW usb drive. I can read cds with it. Cannot burn CDs. First k3b suggests slowing down (from 8x to 4x). Then use TAO. Then it gave up. So I try cdrecord directly. -checkdrive finds some interesting things. Got to close the drive manually; cdrecord says it can't. then try a cdrecord -v dev=dev/scd0 sample.iso

Wine and 3D rendering issues

Here's a rundown of my PC: Intel C2D E6600 2.4GHz 4GB 800MHz DDR2 NForce 680i Chipset 2x NVidia 8800GTS 320MB OC GPUs Creative XFi Titanium Sound Card OS Info: Debian Testing with 2.6.26-2-amd64 kernel, KDE3.5 and Wine 1.1.18 After fiddling with ALSA and the recently released OSS drivers, I've gotten sound working fine at least to the point that 2.1 sound is working for testing purposes. I'm try...

Running 3D in Virtual Desktop Mode freezes Nvidia hardware
...1464 "out of memory" looks suspiciously like a Memory leak. The games I tested are all pretty lightweight, and surely wouldn't fill the Video memory under normal conditions. The last GL_INVALID_OPERATION always seems to be present aswell. Distro: Gentoo AMD64 Card: Geforce 8800GTS 320MB Driver: 180.29 When playing native 3D games, this problem does not occur. Not even if I play them in windowed mode. Please don't tell me "not to use Virtual Desktop Mode then". I have a similiar poblem when playing WINE games in normal fullscreen, but it usually lasts a bit longer....

Oracle on ZFS vs. UFS
Hi, I''m preparing a personal TPC-H benchmark. The goal is not to measure or optimize the database performance, but to compare ZFS to UFS in similar configurations. At the moment I''m preparing the tests at home. The test setup is as follows: . Solaris snv_37 . 2 x AMD Opteron 252 . 4 GB RAM . 2 x 80 GB ST380817AS . Oracle 10gR2 (small SGA (320m)) The disks also contain the OS

Installing R with all packages
Hi, I want R to be installed on a UNIX network (Solaris). I am not the system administrator and so I cannot do it myself. The system administrator wants to know which packages I want, and it may be a lot. Is there an easy way to download and install all packages at once? Is it a good idea? (There is a good chance that I do not need the some few packages that do not install well during such a

making sense of the stats
Hi, Robert. I appreciate the explanation. Indeed, the terminology is not consistent or intuitive. So by your "4 services" you mean _sources_? If clients are source connections (one and the same?), then how do we reconcile limits for both clients and sources? Is it like saying, 'for all of the X sources, they can have a total of Y connections'? How can I set limits on the

error: (XEN) Not enough memory for DOM0 memory reservation.
Dear list, I''m trying to get Xen working on a P3-600E with 320 MB RAM. (256+64) It has suse linux 9.1 installed on it, and I tried to get xen running with both the binary download from the xen pages and the suse xen packages mentioned on this list some days ago. Both ''install packages/kernels'' lead to the same error: (XEN) Not enough memory for DOM0 memory
