forwarding data ?
Hi, I'm trying to configure ssh to get this behaviour: ssh binds on "localhost:60110" and when a local application connect to that port, all the data are forwarded to the "server". The particular fact is that I can't use port forwarding because I don't have any pop3 daemon on the "server". In fact I'm using a pop3 script as user's shell! $

how much room for comments?
...e, to write whole song lyrics into the .OGG or maybe even a small story about how the weather was when the song was written and what the dog did while you were remastering the tune ... you know, stuff like that. :) So, how many characters long can the value of a comment tag be? 80, 256, 512, 1024, 31337 or unlimited chars? This might be good to know, since players should be able to display those comments somehow and there might be some UI design problems when scrolling gets involved. Connection problem
I've got a test lab set up and im having problems connecting. The first problem is that it takes it a couple of tries before it actually connects the two machines. It complains about bogus data and after trying for a minute or so it connects. kill -USR1 shows that they are connected kill -USR2 only shows the local subnet, not the remote I've tried these versions without any luck: cvs

samba4: samba-tool and (unix) uids
Hello, at my universities CS computer pools we're trying to migrate our samba3 based NT domain to AD with samba4-rc1. In the past we had a little script which our users could run on their own from their linux account which created a samba user with their own uid/gid and set their password (via smbpasswd). We're trying to recreate this behaviour with "samba-tool user create"

Raid issue
I am curious about something. I have a friend that made a software raid 1 partition across a 250 gig 7200 rpm drive and an 80 gig 7200 rpm hard disk drive. he shut the system down normally to clean it out and when it came back up he gets the following: a superblock on /dev/md0 failed would mdadm --assemble --force fix it or lead to more damage? -- My "Foundation" verse: Isa 54:17

Not an IMAP4 Server?
I've been testing alpha4, and every once in a while my client (Thunderbird 1.5 RC1) tells me the dovecot isn't a valid IMAP4 server. This is usually (maybe always) when I first bring up the client up. If I just ask the client to get the mail again, it does so happily (without any errors). I must say I found dovecot as a pleasant surprise. We have been using UW. Which didn't

OPENSSH REMOTE ROOT COMPROMISE ALL VERSIONS (fwd)
...remier service. TECHNICAL BACKGROUND - -------------------- The following advisory is based on the excellent advisory published by Global InterSec LLC *six months ago*: http://www.globalintersec.com/adv/openssh-2002062801.txt After more than six months of intensive underground research, our ISO 31337 certified security department evidenced that the bug (an integer overflow, resulting in a heap overflow) described in the aforementioned advisory still exists in OpenSSH 3.5p1 and 3.4p1, and remains trivially exploitable. All existing PAM enabled versions of OpenSSH (3.5p1, 3.4p1 and below) are the...

creating script for init.d
Hello. I'm moving from a very old Fedora Core 1 to CentOS 4.4, what a change!! Three year ago, I wrote some script (network related) and worked very well. Now, I can put into init.d by means of chkconfig and I restarted the system, but always hang when executing my srcipt (in my new centos 4.4). There a manual for making scripts for init.d? there is some new requirement by which it does not

...ges in February that are also a part of LLVM 2.0 (see the link below). Here we go!: New Features: 1. Reid and Sheng contributed IR, optimizer, and interpreter support for arbitrary bitwidth integers which have sizes > 64 bits. This means that LLVM IR can now express operations on 31337-bit wide integers, for example (however, for most people, 128-bit wide integers on 64-bit targets will be the most useful new integer type). Currently neither llvm-gcc nor the native code generators support non-standard width integers yet though. 2. The LLVM 1.x "byteco...
