Looking for some hardware answers, maybe someone on this list could help
I posted a thread here...
http://forums.opensolaris.com/thread.jspa?threadID=596
I am trying to finish building a system and I kind of need to pick
working NIC and onboard SATA chipsets (video is not a big deal - I can
get a silent PCIe card for that, I already know one which works great)
I need 8 onboard SATA. I would prefer Intel CPU. At least one gigabit
port. That''s about it.

Off-Topic: Low Power Hardware
Hello,
I'm slightly off-topic here, but it is somewhat CentOS related!
I'm in search of some hardware that consumes a low amount of power for use
as a test-bed for Linux, various coding projects, and LAN services.
1) Low power consumption (10-15W ... maybe 30W at most)
2) Must run Linux without too much fuss (CentOS or otherwise)
3) Must have two NICs (fast ethernet or better)
4) Memory - 1GB or better
5) Can be configurable either via serial or VGA.
6) Accepts a normal hard drive, not CF -- drive capacity is my concern.
7) spare PCI slot is a _plus_ (ex...

I noted also that output.power.percent and ups.load are both zero,
which seems not realistic (with an estimated load of abut 30W). I tried
with a test load of about 180W and the reading was 40, which seems correct.

looking for input on broadband router with QoS andVPN support
Bob,
Have you looked at any of the products by Zyxel? With QOS, VPN & wireless
support they have:
For ADSL: Prestige 652HW
Firewall/Router: Zywall 10W & 30W
I'll be honest, I havn't used any of these yet. We were looking for similar
products to suuport our VOIP installs. We just ordered some demo units from
Zyxel, we shoul have them later this week. I'll let you know our impression
of them after we test.

POE Splitters
I've got an interesting situation where I have one cable run from the feed
area to the service area. I have three devices that I need to power at the
service area. Is anyone aware of a device that will take the POE from the
cable run and then allow me to split it to two or three devices at the
service end?
When I search for splitter all I get are the injectors, but I figure someone
has to

$100 Technics headphones directly hooked to the headphone out of the sound

After the test, I reconnected the rear speakers (which I didn\'t use), powered

CyberPower BR850ELCD ignores offdelay and turns itself back on while still on battery
Hi there,
I just purchased a CyberPower BR850ELCD and while setting NUT up with
the install instructions from the homepage was pretty straightforward,
and the UPS was detected by the usbhid-ups driver, I'm having problems
getting the UPS to work properly.
First issue: whatever I set as the offdelay, seems to be ignored and the
UPS just cuts the power about 2sec after receiving the

...splay, it was
also showing a 0% load. It's rated for a max of 510W and I guess isn't
very sensitive in the lower 2 digit watts.
I plugged in another 50W lamp and then it finally started showing a 19%
load. The equipment I intend to run via the UPS usually shouldn't
consume more than 30W, so I guess the load indicator won't be of any
use, but since the increasing offdelay fixed both issues, I'm hoping no
long term issues creep up in the future.
