large file download, timeout?
...nother module that does the same things and works, my only guess is the size of the tarball: modules/hadoop020/files/hadoop-0.20.0.tar.gz - 41M modules/zookeeper320/files/zookeeper-3.2.0.tar.gz - 12M Any ideas or suggestions to speed up file transfers?? If I manually scp the file, it takes only 30seconds (between office and ec2), why would it take so long and eventually timeout inside the colo ( ec2)? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. Sending lists using .C
...t_values, Gcompat[[i]][[j]]) Gcompat_lengths = c(Gcompat_lengths, length(Gcompat[[i]][[j]])) } } for (i in 2:(length(Gcompat_lengths)+1)) { Gcompat_indicies[i] = Gcompat_indicies[i-1]+Gcompat_lengths[i-1] } ######## This approach works, but is still slow (10,000 times doing this takes ~30seconds). I know you can pass a list through by having the C function take as a parameter SEXP*. However I am not familiar with using Rinternals.h and am a little lost as to how I would access elements of my big list if I just pass the whole thing through to a SEXP*. The other thing is I have 2 lists to...

Super HIGH CPU usage
I am using puppet 0.23.0-1 from Fedora Core 7 for a while and just realized that puppet use over 90% CPU every 30 minutes for about 10minutes. Anyone has the same issue? Yet Another Apache/FastCgi Setup Issue
I have set up FastCGI on the server and added 2 servers/processes and increased the timeout from 30seconds to 60seconds. I _think_ I did that properly because I now have to wait the full 60 seconds like clockwork until I get the "Rails application failed to start" when I browse to my URL. Before it was 30 seconds like clockwork. When I run "ruby dispatch.fcgi" I get the following:...

question about exact behaviour with data=ordered.
...I assume sync updates (rm, chmod, mkdir etc) will block? Is it safe to assume that normaly async writes won't block? What about if they extend the file and so change the file size? What about atime updates? Could they ever block for the full 30 seconds? Supposing lots of stuff would block for 30seconds, is there anything that could be done to improve this? Would it be possible (easy?) to modify the commit process to flush out 'ordered' data without locking the journal? As you might guess, we have a situation where writing large files on a large-memory machine is causing occasional bad...

Saving files with Opera to a Samba share, printing
Hello! Whenenver I try to save a downloaded file with Opera [6.x] to a Samba share [2.2.x], Opera (and also the windows-explorer) freezes. Having set log-level to 1, I get the following message after a while. Sometimes, but not always, Opera continues working after 30seconds or so. I have the same behaviour in Samba 2.2.2, 2.2.3a and 2.2.4-pre. Roaming profile & f-secure problem
Hi, are there any know problems with f-secure scanner and roaming profiles? We have a lot of users with problems syncing their roaming profile from the domain server. It seems to be a problem with f-secure's on-access scanning (may be timeout problem?). Some users have to login three or four times, before getting their roaming profile and not the default profile. System: 3.0.24-6etch9

Excel & samba-3.0.11 slowness/hanging/lockup issues... Anyone?
...s regarding users opening/accessing/saving/writing MS Excel files into samba shares. When a user accesses a file on a shared volume via samba, they can open an Excel file and end up with one of two conditions; either their system hangs after opening the file for a short pause (sometimes as much as 30seconds) - then all is well, or they hang after opening Excel, but before loading the file (which is the more common issue). It's as though the file is being held or accessed by something which is preventing Excel from opening it right away; thought perhaps antivirus was the issue therein, but disablin...

File Upload Problems With Apache and Lighttpd But Not Webrick...
I am having trouble uploading files through a form when using Apache (production) or Lighttpd (development). The odd thing is that when I force script/server to load Webrick, the upload works just fine on the same code-base. When it fails, the upload just sits there forever. Some browsers eventually return an error code, others spin for a long time... Anyway, it never recovers. The file is a

Bug in attended transfer or as expected?
Hi all, I have had quite a few customer complaints about attended transfer cutting off callers. The problem is when reception is busy she doesn't always wait for someone to answer the call, however hanging up a ringing transfer on attended also hangs up the caller. I have checked the scripts I don't *think* this is a dial plan error but if anyone has this working correctly on Asterisk

We are running a monitoring system that tries to connect to the Samba server 24h/day every minute and we graph the response times. For 4.7.6 and earlier we see a short period (0-30seconds) where connections are denied, but any later version we see at least multi-minute login denials. So I wrote a monitoring script that we run regularly (and every 2 minute around the time when we most often see this happeningen) and if it detects three failed connects (timeout of 20s and then sleep...
