SIP Softphone on Thinclient?
Is anyone doing this or has anyone tried? The thin clients are running WindowsCE, a browser, and 300mhz. They are Wyse units. I wonder if anyone has any practical advise or can recommend the best phone or method to load a stable softphone on one of these boxes? Thanks, Steve Totaro

G4-400mhz enough for CentOS 4.3?
It's that time again. I'm stuck with a bunch of older Powermac G4's that I either need to repurpose or give the heave ho. I've not tried CentOS on Mac hardware before. Would the following config be suitable for a (somewhat slow) workstation? PowerMac G4 400mhz 256mb RAM 40gig ATA disk Some sort of dual-head ATI video setup with 64mb VRAM (I've forgotten which cards they

Speex on Nokia Symbian S60 phones
Quoting "Fabio Pietrosanti (naif)" <lists at infosecurity.ch>: > Speex it's too cpu expensive for general S60 usage, it would require a > lot of ASM optimization. Did a quick search and saw ARM CPUs with speeds above 100 MHz. That should actually be enough for Speex, at least for narrowband. > If you are using CSD, like for a secure telephony solution >

Performance Issues with GBit LAN
Hi. I have 2 PC's connected with 1GBit NIC's. When I transfer a file from my File-Server(Redhat9.0, 256 SD-RAM, 300MHz PII, RTL8169 NIC, 2x Western Digital WD200JB RAID 0) to my Windows-PC(AMD Athlon XP 1800+, 1024 MB DDR-RAM, WINXP PRO, RTL8169 NIC, 2x Western Digital WD080JB RAID 0) with Samba, i get Speeds around 8-9MB/sec. I think this is too low for an GBit Network, so i tested the NIC's with the Tool Iper...

...get what I expect for cycles. O(N/2)+25 The 32K L2 cache will help any SDRAM access. I initially had a compiler option wrong which was miniminizing size instead of max speed, but I'm still at 44MIPS for a single channel. I saw the 10MFLOPS number in the documentation. At first glance, a 300Mhz 67 looks under powered but a quick profile shows 50% of the cycles are concentrated in just a few functions. The 67xx is designed to execute these functions and I figured I could get a factor of two out of these DSP functions. That would bring me under the 9.3MFLOPS requirement. The DSP functio...

Need Help for SpeeX codec Optimization
Hi all, We have come across a problem to run the SpeeX codec in our system: the codec process is too slow. We are running this codec process on ARM7 DSPs, which frequency is about 100MHz-300MHz. I wonder if some one can share some experience or codes to us to help us with the optimization. Thanks a lot! New Samba Install
Hello Everyone, We've run Samba for awhile now. Unfortunately we're redoing everything. We're installing samba 1.9.18p3 on a Solaris 2.5.1 Dual PII/300Mhz machine. We're wanting to do user authenication through 1 of several ways. - Through the NT server. We currently have in the conf file: security=server password server = (The name of our PDC) OR - Through a UNIX /etc/passwd style file that is not in /etc/passwd and is not a shadow passwd. PLE...

IAX calls drop suddenly?
Hi, I've got asterisk working as a PSTN gateway between two sites. The IP connection is pretty good and bandwidth exceeds 640Kbps all the time. I'm using X100P hardware on 300Mhz and 333MHz systems. One of them has a sound card, but the slower system does not have a sound card. Both are connected to PBXes and I have busydetect=yes on one end because the PBX doesn't drop the voltages at disconnect. The other has a more normal ATA for the analog port. I've search...

[LLVMdev] Optimization opportunity
...g the 1.3 release, though I did pull the current code from CVS to verify no other changes were made to those files. Unfortunately this machine is too underpowered to frequently rebuild LLVM. It was collecting dust in the closet until I decided to put FreeBSD on it. For the record it's a 64MB 300Mhz Pentium II and it takes 30-35 hours to build LLVM from scratch. It's possible some of my test problems are due to LLVM generating X86 code that's not Pentium II-friendly. If LLVM was Windows-friendly I'd build it on my much more powerful Windows system, but relying on cygwin means com...

Domain name
I have 2 server including the PDC. This is going to grow to 4 servers total. I have one PDC and i have 1000+ user accounts setup. Logins work fine from all computers. Currently I have 2 user groups one on each server in order to reduce the load because I am using old 300mhz computers. The problem that is see is that when i login and decide to set permissions on the samba "server" not the PDC while on a windows client is that the under domain is gives the right domain name but the userlist is in the form SERVER2/username on the pdc files have the form DOMAIN/...
