virtio nic dosent use 10gbe speed.
...To inicial test I've create script, using qemu commands, to build two VM's
and test the nic speed.
Each VM has one nic, using virtio, into it own bridge. In this bridge we
associate one 10gbe physical nic.
They can communicate each other.
When we try do a copy, through SCP, the speed is 300mbps. And if we open
another copy this speed been the half.

Freenas domU network performance issue

TSO / LRO config has no impact on the bench result.

The bench result highly depends on TSO / LRO config.

reports low cpu usage in both domain (varies corresponding to BPS, ~ 20%)).

Page allocation failure
...the traffic through L1 and L2.
Every interface is gigabit. (Realtek NICs)
I''m using IMQ on L1 and L2, to separate the traffic into 2 zones,
international and local, with HTB for shaping.
The system works fine for some time, but when the traffic hits 200Mbps, and
ocassionally bursts to 250-300Mbps,
L1 and L2 behave strangely (packet loss > 30%, increased latency +20ms),
sometimes they even hang, leaving me with the only solution: rebooting them.
I''ve checked the CPU usage, it stays around 80% during the highest traffic.
I''ve examined the logs, and here is what i'...

12-15 TB RAID storage recommendations
Hello listmates,
I would like to build a 12-15 TB RAID 5 data server to run under
ContOS. Any recommendations as far as hardware, configuration, etc?
Thanks.
Boris.

[CBQ problem]
...e between these two files and other files I
think that the problem is with number of rules. Is there any limits for
sfq and can I increase them?
router hardware configuration:
dual p4 xeon 2.4Ghz ; 1GB/ram ; two nics e1000/64bit
running kernel is 2.4.27
traffic that pass through router is about 300mbps 40-50kpkt/sec
Any help, suggestions or comments on that will be appreciated.
Regards,
E.A.

dsync initial replication failing
...me <remote_ip> doveadm dsync-server -uuser at host.com -U
It happened around 2am. I restarted the new server dovecot process and it
started to copy back up again, and then happened about four hours later. I
have about 10,000 accounts, and it chugs through the list to replicate
pretty well (~300Mbps), so I know it's working. Just not sure why it's
failing after it's working so great.
Running 2.2.13 on both on FreeBSD.
Both show this:
# doveadm replicator status
Queued 'sync' requests

Queued 'high' requests

Queued 'low' requests

I will definitely try those.

I tried compression levels 0,1,9,10 and 1,9 did slow down
transmission by 20-40% (360Mbps to 250-300Mbps), 0,10 were about the
same. I do not think compression could greatly benefit me, as most
transmitted data will already be compressed.
If tinc is not fast enough, I was thinking about using a second VPN
like wireguard point-to-point between each server where possible (even
an SSH tunnel would get n...

OpenVPN throughput
Hello listmates,
We are working on setting up two private networks linked by a public
network which is fast (1 Gbit/s) but potentially insecure. Since the
hosts on our two networks need to talk to each other, and do so
securely, we have decided to use OpenVPN to connect them, making one
gateway a server and the other a client. The connectivity part was
easy to establish and worked like a charm.

Recommendation about an usb wireless adapter to use it as HostAP
...s a hostap for my home. I am thinking to use an Alfa (http://www.alfa.com.tw) usb wireless adapter or TP-Link. BUt there is not much information in Alfa's or TP-Link's web sites about which of them can run as a HostAP. If I can find any adapter that supports ac with a throughput of 150 Mbps/300Mbps, it would be great.
Any recommendation? Maybe AWUS036ACH and TP-TLW722N can supports this functionality, but I am not sure ...
Thanks.

[Bug 1127] New: running nft command creates lag for forwarded packets
...In test case, ICMP packets
going through boxes have normally about 5ms latency. When running nft
(regardless command for listing set with few items or with several thousand
items) latencies go up to 30-100ms. This is observed when router throughput is
from 600Mbps to 2Gbps. When throughput is about 300Mbps, latecies go up too,
but to 8-12ms. Routers are using multiple NICs queues with affinity to CPU
cores, maximum load when tests were performed was about 10-20%. Userspace
processes (including nft) are affined to other cores than NICs queues.
Older boxes with iptables but similar ruleset have no su...
