idmap & migration to rfc2307
I *think* I may have encountered a bug, or a feature, in the idmap/winbind area. I have recently added rfc2307 attributes to my AD, and am in the process of switching over. This means that I still have (unintentionally) some files/directories/etc. around with old UIDs e.g. 3000007, rather than my rfc2307 specified UIDs. What I am seeing is that the SID2XID mapping is initially correct for a given user (i.e. resolves to the rfc2307 UID I have set in AD), but at some point in the future, without any apparent trigger, the SID2XID mapping *changes* and turns into the old UID e....

Error 'getpwuid(3000007) failed' is again.
Hi all. Recently I built from tarball sources 436 version of Samba4 at Ubuntu 14.04 x64. There wasn' t any Samba at the server before. All started successfully, but in 'standalone server' mode, while accessing to shares, error 'getpwuid(3000007) failed' is appeared as was here https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba/2014-May/181010.html. And it is impossible to open it even shares list. All necessary daemons as nmbd, smbd, winbindd are started. There is no the error and shares is accessible while this Samba4 acts as DC. Also this error...

sssd on DC for fileserver
...701182 In my /etc/nsswitch.conf I have: passwd: files sss group: files sss The problem is that when I create a file from a client machine into a samba share on this server, e.g. creating the file \\servername\sharename\newfile.txt, this new file is not owned by UID 1514701182, but rather 3000007. Before I ran 'net cache flush', a simple "ls -l" showed the file as being owned by the right user 'mydomainuser' - the wrong UID only showed up via "ls -nl", which tells ls to display UIDs rather than usernames. Now, however, when I run "ls -l", I jus...

sssd on DC for fileserver
...rs, that I recently switched to using sssd (against these same DCs) for UNIX user authentication - this part works perfectly. However, I am using one of these as a Samba file server also. When I create a file via a SMB share, the UNIX UID the file is owned by is the old 'winbind' UID (e.g. 3000007) rather than the new 'sssd' UID (e.g. 1514701182) I have /etc/nsswitch.conf set to use 'files sss' for passwd and group. 'id <username>' works fine and returns the correct (new) UID. 'getent -s sss passwd <username>' returns the new UID (that I want to...

idmap & migration to rfc2307
...here is rather a lot of information to sanitise and I will no doubt break consistency in the logs if I do so. If anybody else on the dev team would like a copy, that's fine - just email me and I will send them to you also. In summary, /usr/local/samba/var/log.winbindd-idmap shows the following 3000007 UID being allocated to my user that already has a UID from rfc2307 attributes e.g. 41234. I don't know why.. but this is where the problem occurs: [2015/11/08 01:07:02.077532, 4, pid=24816, effective(0, 0), real(0, 0), class=winbind] ../source3/winbindd/winbindd_dual.c:1389(child_handler) c...

idmap & migration to rfc2307
Thanks buhorojo. The sssd list came up trumps here. When changing ID mappings, the sssd database must be manually removed (rm /var/lib/sss/db/*). I now have sssd working again :) I shall keep an eye on the mappings during the day today..
