MARK causes high CPU usage / using tc in conjunction with MASQ
Using below configuration multiplied by 3000+ nodes to control bandwidth causes very high kernel cpu usage (99.5%) narrowed it down to the mangle table. Any ideas to do this more efficiently would be appreciated. The mangle table entry (indicated by ***) is sucking all the cpu. I am running RH7.3 kernel 2.4.18-3 and iptables 1.2.5 This setu...

Large (3000+ users) NT to Samba migration
Hi guys and girls, A client of mine is seriously investigating migrating their 7 NT servers and 3000+ users to Linux running Samba. I've read one or two documents so far about the migration, but I'm still a little unclear about a number of things. When you have a chance I'd really appreciate your guidance on the following items. 1.) LDAP, /etc/passwd or MySQL backend (if supported). 2...

Athlon 64 for Asterisk?
I want to buy a new server to run Asterisk and after looking at prices for the Athlon XP 3000+ it costs the same as an Athlon 64 at the same speed rating. I was wondering if Zaptel/Asterisk will compile/work on an Athlon 64? -- Carlos Chavez Director de Tecnolog?a Telecomunicaciones Abiertas de M?xico S.A. de C.V.

cpu type
...it at the time, but there's a chance it may be a 64bit board and cpu. I don't want to pull the machine out of the desk, and open it up to find out. Is there a command entered by way of the terminal window that will tell me what kind of cpu I have? I want to say that it's an AMD sempron 3000+, but I'm not sure. Thanks Jim

Strange soundcard problem w/4.2
Hi there, I'm trying to repurpose an unused machine (athlon XP 3000+) for my young daughter to use. It's on a motherboard with a VIA KT880 chipset and VIA integrated soundcard (VIA 8237). The card seems to be detected during boot time and shows up in the system log, but when I try to actually use the sound card within Gnome, there's no sound. The dev...

Interrupt latency problems
...ot Linux, load zaptel, wcfxo, and wcfxs, and then run System Monitor, the CPU utilization spikes to 60% every 10 seconds. After I remove wcfxs the spikes stop, and system utilization stays at 0%. I have two TDM22B cards and get these spikes with either card in the system. This is an Athlon-64 3000+ CPU and Fedora Core 2. zaptel-1.0.2. Is there anyone who has a TDM card on a "quiet" system who can run System Monitor and observe CPU utilization? Thanks for your help. P.S. I do 'hdparm -u1 /dev/hdx' on the disks. -- Michael Welter Introspect Telephony Corp. Denver, Co...

...ord: 0242A7FEC5CD294F916925766089E573 when I configured samba with ldap backend then samba is not able to get user information (because samba always search attribute uid=numeric), but when I replace uid=username (uid=test1 instead of uid=102220) it works and authenticate successful. As I have 3000+ users in ldap and it is not possible to change to all user settings, request to you kindly give me some clue to find out the solution, I will highly obliged for the same. -- Thanks & Regards, Arun Kumar Gupta ------------------------------------------------------------------------------...

sip show peers returns several notices
...sip show peers output. [Dec 21 03:38:31] NOTICE[12693]: utils.c:1074 ast_wait_for_output: Timed out trying to write This happens on a freshly installed 1.6.1.12 and a 1.6.1.6 box that I am running. Both of them use Debian Linux (lenny) on Dell PowerEdge 1950. My list of SIP peers is quite large (3000+). I have not noticed anything wrong with the asterisk installation apart from this notice, but it is worrying as the error seems to crop up in other bug reports as a precursor to crashes.

Urgent hardware help needed
...mory (PC3200 ECC nonbuffered) quickly. Thus, if you happen to have available some of this type of memory that you could spare with and get to me quickly, I would really, *really* appreciate it. I would really like to have either 4x512 MB or 2x1 GB in this box. The new hardware is an Athlon 64 3000+ and an Asus A8N-VM CSN motherboard, in case someone is curious. -hpa P.S. The new case (cannibalized from another server donated to me by Penguin computing for RAID-6 testing) has additional slots, so I am also looking to add a couple of WD 3200JD drives to use as backup media.

I have an accessory vector, " cov2class" that specifies the mapping between covariates and the 8 classes. Now, I understand I can break all this information up into individual

Dynamic dialplan
We intend to use Asterisk with a very large dialplan (with a lot of functionality for 3000+ users). Each user will be able to change several of his parameters in the dialplan, so we will be forced to reload the diaplan constantly. Has anybody else any previous experience with a similar installation? There are some things that we'd like to know, if anybody can help us. These are:...
