SYSLINUX 3.09-pre2: release candidate
It appears that increasing the command line limit to 1023 caused the
.bss memory area to overflow. Unfortunately NASM didn't detect this as
it ought to have and therefore I didn't catch it as an error.
I have dropped the command line limit to 511 characters and released it
as 3.09-pre2. This is a release candidate; please test it out and if it
works I'll make it 3.09.

pxelinux 3.09 LOCALBOOT does not work (v3.07 does)
Hi,
when trying to boot from local disk with PXELINUX v 3.09, the
systems just beeps and hangs. The last message appearing on the
screen is "Booting from local disk..."
Running PXELINUX v 3.07 works for me (but I'd like to use v.3.09
because of the increased max command line size.
The BIOS boot priority configuration is PXE/Disk/Disabled.
Grub is installed in the MBR of the

Samba 3.09, Cups & slow Print Dialoge.
I setup samba 3.09 printing with cups. However the
dialogue box takes about 10 - 15 seconds to load or
even when i switch printer or change properties to
printers. Strangly enough when i add my user account
as a admin in the global section, the problem goes
away. I am running my clinet on XP SP1. Any help
would be great. Thanks!

loosing connections after upgrade to 3.09
I had 3.05 running fine with an NT4 domain. I am using SERVER
authentication with the machines and users. After the upgrade some of my
users are no longer recognized ...or rather they are part of a trusted
domain (NT4 -> NT4 trust)....and they do not get authenticated
properly....so they can no longer map their home directory.
Also, some people are loosing their mapping to their home

Slow login using Samba 3.09 but Samba 2.27 works ok.
Hello!
We have Mandrake Linux 9.0 system with Samba v2.27 serving as a PDC
for ~400 users. (Hardware: P1800, 256Mb). The performance is
acceptable- user can log in in approx. 5 sec. (Includes copying ~700Kb
roaming profile).
Now we've got new server (P3000HT,512Mb,SATA) with Mandrake Linux 10.1
community and Samba 3.09 (compiled from sources). And guess what? Now

quantreg 3.09
A new version of the quantile regression package (quantreg 3.09) is now
available on CRAN. The new features include:
1. a new fitting method "fnc" for rq() which allow the call to specify
linear inequality constraints on the coefficients.
2. an anova() function for rq objects that implements several F-like tests
for quantile regression models at a given quantile, and other F-like

Keyboard stops working
Hi all! I'm new to the list (and syslinux for that matter!) but I've
searched as best I can for a similar problem to no avail. I've been
using pxelinux.0 + menu.c32 + memdisk to load MS-DOS boot images for a
few months now using version 3.07. When I introduced a new Intel 945G
based machine to the network I started getting very erratic behavior,
ranging from reboots to hangs, to

winbind changes from 3.04 vs. 3.08 & 3.09 ?
We have a mixed mode NT4 and W2K domain trust wan. The W2K domains are
for Exchange and the NT4 are for fileservers/users. There's about 5
domains of each throughout our company.
When I was testing 3.04, I could see account from all domains via
winbind -- getent passwd would return NTlocal\user, w2k\user,
w2k2\user, nt4\user, nt42\user..
Since I started testing 3.08 and 3.09 (binaries from

Display Problems with PXELINUX 3.09
I've just updated from v3.07 to v3.09. After completing
the upgrade my graphic (logo) no longer displays. It did
work while running V3.07. Is this a known bug? All
replies would be greatly appreciated.

Graphing System Load MRTG
I check system load like so:
[root at server cron.daily]# w
10:07:33 up 4 days, 15:01, 2 users, load average: 4.22, 3.17, 3.09
I would like to to graph the 3.17 5 minute average with MRTG. Anyone
know of some examples of doing this?

problems booting isolinux
Hello List,
I have used isolinux for years without problems. Recently I decided to
upgrade from 3.09 to 3.11. Every CD I create can be read on my Vectra
(Pentium 3)
and all other Pentium 3 boxes, but all my Pentium 4 boxes will not
boot (they ignore
the CD and boot from hard disk). The bochs VM will boot the CDs fine
just like the
Pentium 3 machines. I have tried 3.09 (which worked

3.10pre8 & ipod shuffle
Hello!
I own an Ipod shuffle (512MB) and I am having trouble booting from it
using syslinux 3.10pre8 (I have not tested older versions).
I guess the Ipod shuffle works just like an ordinary USB key with a
FAT32 partition so I have read http://syslinux.zytor.com/usbkey.php.
My BIOS identifies it as a hard disk, so I hope I do not have to modify
the geometry. Windows assigns the drive letter

Breaking the 256 command line limit
I'm building pxe-booted kiosk systems using pxelinux 3.09 and linux
kernel 2.6.14. I noticed a discussion on this list that 3.09 supports a
511 character command line but that the kernel would need to be patched
to access it beyond 255. How can I patch the kernel to do so?

feature and bug in wilcox.test
Dear Developers Team,
I have two items:
1. wilcox.test with the paired=T option appears to delete zeros
before ranking absolute differences.
Would it be possible to add the feature of removing
zeros after ranking, which is given in Lehmann's Nonparametrics
as the preferred choice. See also Pratt (1959), JASA 54, 655-667.
It is given in wilcoxsign_test of the coin package as an

need some assistance - Samba 3.09 on FreeBSD 4.5
Hello,
I've been able to get Samba up and running, it joins the ADS domain
fine. It appears in the network browser on our Windows machines but when
anyone attempts to access a restricted share it fails to authenticate
them. I say restricted because if anyone accesses an open to everyone
share it works.
I'm trying to get the entire thing setup so that the Samba server is

pxelinux : filenames without prefix
Hi,
I am trying with 3.09 to use filenames without prefix in the following manner:
dhcp.conf:
...
filename "/a/pxelinux.0";
...
default:
...
kernel ::/test/vmlinuz-smp
append initrd=::/test/initrd-smp.gz
...
With ethereal I see that the kernel is requested as expected. But the
initrd is requested as /a/test/initrd-smp.gz .
Btw, from the TODO file:

pdbedit - question on migration
question on pdbedit - when using it for a migration - existing data is
stored in tdbsam.
pbdedit -i tdbsam -e ldapsam
It wants to take existing machine accounts and put them into an
ou=Computers. I'd rather it put them in ou=People.
Samba version is 3.09
Thanks.......
